The right to say and study what we want is essentially American. But we don’t live in America any longer. We live in a foreign country now. To return, we need to map how far things have gone.
Here are a list of words your govt is disappearing.

I started to put together this list after my students requested we no longer record classroom conversations about changes happening with the Trump administration. They wanted the conversation, but not a record that could be used against them.
How quickly this sense of fear became widespread.

Thank you so much for your offer. I’ll let my daughter know. By the way which book written by her would you most recommend?

It was a wonderful and fascinating read. My daughter has recently become interested in Simone de Beauvoir so I shared it with her. Thank you for sharing this.

Well..in regard to intelligent people, I’ve observed both so I’m wondering if it has to do with their personality, upbringing or life experiences.
My daughter is majoring in contemporary thought & philosophy so your questions will bring up some interesting discussions.

Thank you for choosing a wonderful topic. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it! These are exactly the questions I’ve been asking myself lately.

What’s frightening is that so-called democratic non western countries that were somewhat stable like South Korea and Japan are a mess as well. I see a growing # of fascist, pro-Trump supporters, groups that blame foreigners for issues that have existed here in Japan decades before their arrival.

My daughter enjoyed Lois Lowry’s The Giver and Gathering Blue at that age. Books by Jacqueline Wilson and Diana Wynne Jones were also some of her favorites so your nieces may enjoy them as well.

Thank you for educating & reminding those of us that were unaware of this or needed reminding. Is it alright to assume all disabled people feel this way or does it differ greatly on the individual?

Thank you for your 🧵and I’m so sorry for your loss. My mother who was also on her bicycle lost her life in Florida when an SUV hit her so I can completely empathize. Bigger cars and roads designed & made with only cars and car drivers in mind, are putting pedestrians and bicyclists safety at risk.

Just wish the majority thought like you.
Many seem to stand up only for those in their “little circles” or in many cases not even that, if it’s not advantageous for them or they can’t immediately reap the benefits.

The more open you are in life, the more data and information you're able to take in.
Which always leads to more well-rounded worldviews; more empathy & better listening skills to learn from others; and more profound insight.
Only good can come from being open-minded.

Hello! Relieved that there were a few familiar names here. Unfortunately the “other place” updates me on current affairs of Japan & allows me to get a view of their changing values & mentality but Bluesky is so much nicer.

Thank you for sharing this. I hope many of us share these thoughts. May I also share something I recently read from The Editorial Board: “The world never changed for the better because a majority wanted it to. It changed because a righteous minority demanded it.”

Thank you for your kind words. Since I wasn’t permitted to have a pet growing up, I was very hesitant about welcoming one into my life but it has actually been a wonderful experience.
