Reacher is the most inane enjoyable diversion ever. I hope it runs for 15 seasons with each one trying to outdo the previous. I love it.

Correction: tying touchdown came on game's final play on a Hail Mary.

Actually, Jax State scored on a 49-yard pass with 6 seconds left, then promptly missed the extra point, forcing overtime. The Gamecocks won in OT, so all is well. Still unbeaten in conference play! 2/

I'm too heartbroken to analyze plays right now.

Seconded.

Imagine thinking running this op-ed was a good idea, and on Independence Day, ffs.

Yes, and it was just as bad as we have come to expect. I can't bring myself to post it here.

This is akin to when Georgia and Alabama play each other in college football. I'm over here rooting for a scoreless tie with lots of head-buttin' at midfield.

Growing up in Alabama, I would occasionally hear "chew-to-backy."

When I was precisely one week old, a pastor from a church in my home state won the Nobel Peace Prize.

No meteor but a scoreless tie would be nice.

Jim Hathcock, bottle of whiskey in one hand and cigar in the other, posing for a photo not long before he was killed. He's also wearing his Sunday-go-to-meeting jacket over his coveralls. God I love this photo.

A great-great-grandfather from my mother's side. And I think we are related to the feuding Hatfields, but only distantly.

Art Carney was just about a year older than me here, so this stings a bit.

On the flip side, when I moved out west, I was not prepared for 9 a.m. college football kickoffs. Twenty years later, I am still adjusting.

Interesting.

I haven't looked at any data but I feel like the corner 3 is more difficult despite the distance due to little to no help from the backboard.

Overall, I think the 3-point shot has been a plus for basketball. (It's been 45 years so I doubt it's going away.) I do, however, think the diminishment of the importance of the mid-range jumper is regrettable.

I should probably know who this is, but I'm getting the sense my ignorance is a blessing.

Happy birthday! 60 nears for me.

The coach in question was equally adept at sex ed.

The coach who doubled as our sex ed teacher told us black people had an extra muscle in their legs, making them naturally more gifted athletes than white people. I was 13 years old in an all-white suburban school and remember thinking what unadulterated bullshit that was.
