Never meet your heroes etc but god is this video still incredible nearly 10 years later. That aesthetic of elevating voices from outside the US mainstream has passed from this world for now youtu.be/SJuFdkMOP20?...

The literal wealthiest man in the world donating hundreds of millions of dollars to a presidential campaign and getting rewarded with a government post where he can award his companies with contracts is the most cartoonish possible rendering of what people warned about after Citizens United.

For example, if you famously said that you voted for Trump because you wanted competence in government, and you leave a post like this when someone points that out, you are fair game to gloat about because You Fucked Up

It made me realize how much I love my neighborhood, and also how far we have to go to stop playing at being a city. Fill in those parking lots, legalize apartments, pedestrianize those intersections, bring back streeteries, liberalize liquor laws, and nuke the south Philly acme

And, my beautiful dream, a small curated wine shop run by a French couple and *not* the state government. One of these would absolutely kill on Passyunk

A really wonderful used bookstore that doubles as a coffee shop, and *mature* street trees *everywhere*

Great mix of restaurants and local retail, but the restaurants did a slightly better job with their outdoor areas (enclosed for the winter), and there’s a little more useful daily retail, not to mention more groceries and no suburban supermarket cratering another section

Dense, human scaled and walkable, but with a few more small apartment buildings in the mix and transit just a little more central to life. Also no giant city-owned parking lot cratering the main commercial strip

30 minutes at Tasker, and there’s finally a train. This might have actually done it for me folks. Second time in a month my local stop has made me inexcusably late. I think I might be giving up on septa

No sign of any of these trains. No cashier. Been at Tasker morris since 8. No announcements. Anyone home anywhere?

20 minute northbound bsl headways on a Thursday night probably can’t be blamed on future budget cuts!
