For over a year, I've been on the @apalaweb.org committee for the Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature (YA category). It was a huge honor to be part of this award committee and it meant a lot to me as a biracial second-generation Asian American. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Thank you @apalaweb.org!

Announced at LibLearnX today... In addition to APALA's honorees, I'm super excited @erinentrada.bsky.social won a Newberry!

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations @randyribay.bsky.social ! We are so thrilled that EVERYTHING WE NEVER HAD is the @apalaweb.org young adult WINNER! πŸŽ‰

I love this PB! The Truth About Dragons makes my biracial Asian American heart sing. The beautiful, detailed artwork takes me to the places in the story and makes me feel cozy. I would give this to my own children, if I had any. For now, I'll keep it for my inner child. It's one of her favorites. πŸ“šπŸ‘πŸΌ

Hey, friend - I know that it can feel like you're screaming into a void these days, but please know that I see you. Keep going. Keep writing, drawing, coloring, lettering, publishing, selling, promoting, speaking out, educating, providing access, helping... all of it. We need it. We need you.

Donating "Jalal and the Lake" to Molly Moon's Social Justice Children's Book Drive! In this bilingual (English, Maranao) Filipino-Muslim fairytale, Jalal lives in the Philippine province of Southern Mindanao. He allows a cherished lake to be filled with trash before realizing the need to restore it.

Just ordered THANK YOU, MOON: CELEBRATING NATURE'S NIGHTLIGHT by my friends @mstewartscience.bsky.social & Jessica Lanan from my local indie children's bookstore, Mabel's Fables.

What are your favorite art supplies for drawing and coloring? βœπŸΌπŸ“’ I'm thinking a hardback sketchbook, colored pencils, and markers, I'm not sure what else. I'm a beginner and have only used Crayola, but I'd like to treat myself and my friend to something fancy-ish.

Other than acquiring a pumpkin spice latte, how much cozier can I get with my Thanksgiving reading than "The Fall of Whit Rivera" by Crystal Maldonado? πŸ§‘πŸ‚ I have severe ADHD-primarily inattentive type. Sometimes even the things I know I love can't hold my attention. This book is engaging so far. πŸ“šπŸ‘πŸΌ

The only thing on my to-do list that got accomplished today was designing my own Christmas cards on Canva. I win! πŸ†

I wanted to do SOMETHING to help lift the spirits of middle grade authors after it was eliminated as a category in the Goodreads choice awards. If you want to share your love for your fav recent mg book, with a special focus on books by marginalized authors, please share using #UpliftMgReads !! 🩷

Bummed about missing the NCTE conference and ALAN Workshop, but I'm happy I got to go to the YALSA Symposium in St. Louis! I organized a panel discussion and was on the panel with an amazing group. 🀩

Upping my comfort game by wearing my new fuzzy onesie while working on my first crochet project (a fuzzy blanket) in a reclining couch. 😌

My purple princess dreams are coming true! πŸ’œ Also, I think I found my new favorite way to relax: Crochet while listening to music or an audiobook. Today's audiobook: "The House That Lou Built" by Mae Respicio 🏠

In the lead up to the Comics Devices library's launch, here are the explainers I made for how comics work at its most base level. Panel and Gutters, Time and Space, and how those four things can change the reading experience.

It's so true.
