Appreciate the United Videogame Workers for ratifying "videogames" as one word. Another victory for the @pcgamer.com style guide. www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...

NEW: White House says the arrest and deportation of student activist & legal US resident, Mahmoud Khalil, is a blueprint for more. The final line here is chilling. The White House specifically says Khalil was not breaking the law. No evidence, no due process, no crime. He was just disappeared.

I was a little sad when I heard that the great puzzle game maker Zachtronics was closing, but then they opened a new studio and started making more puzzle games lol. "This is a Coincidence game, which is a totally legally distinct game studio." www.pcgamer.com/games/puzzle...

AI thought leader types are declaring war on ‘the humanities’ for not loving Chat-GPT enough and demanding things like ‘a benchmark for creativity’ …it’s pretty interesting. Like one of those 4X game factions that’s into tech but also wears robes.

spent a casual 80 hours in Monster Hunter Wilds over the last two weeks for this review, in which I extoll the timeless virtues of the hammer, mourn the loss of the Meowscular Chef, and delight in a more bureaucratic Hunter's Guild: www.pcgamer.com/games/action...

I can't

I remember people taking “IQ” seriously when I was a kid, but then for a while it seemed like we’d dismissed the idea and the term was just shorthand for “smart.” Now I see it used everywhere, across political lines, to signal a new belief in hard metaphysical limits on thinking.

Pretty wild that you can now communicate directly with the most powerful people in the world via posting, but they know so little and are so delusional that you may as well be talking to a bucket of clams.

In the heart of a very busy February, here are 6 games our team of editors are playing. What have you sunk hours into this month?

At D.I.C.E. Summit this week, Obsidian said that it sets a game's budget with the assumption that it will be a "mild success," not a massive hit, and plans to keep at it for at least 100 years. www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/ob...

Mostly because no one specifically told me not to, I'm currently live-blogging my annual simulation of the Super Bowl over on PC Gamer. To be clear: you can't watch the simulation live, but you can watch me blog about it live. www.pcgamer.com/games/live/n...

Big news, the legacy BART train model I ordered last year has arrived.

Civ 7 reviews are up. I agree with Rob Zak's assessment here. Interesting changes, not all for the better, and I think Civ 5/6 players will find a lot to miss. I'm enjoying it in the dopey just-playing-with-my-little-soldiers way that I always enjoy these games in. www.pcgamer.com/games/strate...

I like what I've played of Civ 7 so far, but I'm also aware that I'm easier to please than the real 4X sickos out there. I think there'll be a bit of a brawl over it. www.pcgamer.com/games/strate...

Endless Legend 2 is coming, and we got an exclusive look at the long-awaited 4X sequel. It's launching in early access this year:

Went to Quebec worried about Assassin's Creed Shadows. Left Quebec very excited for Assassin's Creed Shadows. www.pcgamer.com/games/assass...

My latest - a little news hit about an incredible collection of @path-of-exile.bsky.social stuff www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/pa...

in awe of Acer's titanic Gaming Slab www.pcgamer.com/hardware/han...

So, so sad to have lost Gordon Mah Ung. May he keep giving Apple shit forever from the afterlife. If you ever read his work -- he was the beating heart of Maximum PC for many many years before writing clearly and insightfully for many more at PC World -- please consider donating to his family.

The immersive sim is back, baby. Had a great conversation with Warren Spector and his team about their going all-in on the pet genre of game journalists everywhere. www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/th...

So yeah I played a bunch of Elden Ring: Nightreign in Tokyo last week and had a good time with it, though I’m not 100% sold on the e map’s replayability yet. Tried to get as many details down in this explainer, but anyone is welcome to ask questions not answered here and if I know I’ll tell you!

Really happy that @wes.readonlymemo.com was able to hop over to Japan (he probably would not describe it as a hop) to check out FromSoftware's latest before the reveal tonight: www.pcgamer.com/games/roguel...

YouTube's generative AI chat summary on the Game Awards stream.

In terms of announcements, The Game Awards is going to be pretty substantial this year.

Really enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle! Bigass, goodass game with a lot of heart and charm. www.pcgamer.com/games/advent...

I’ve been writing reviews for PC gamer for a long time now. Today I gave out a 94 to Caves of Qud—the highest score I’ve ever given by far. I’m very proud of this review and I hope you’ll read it. www.pcgamer.com/games/roguel...

Today we debuted Trend Watch, a new PC Gamer franchise where our 30-person team identifies the five biggest trends playing out in gaming. www.pcgamer.com/trends/

The latest @pcgamer.com magazine is out now, with world-exclusive access to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the stunning new dark fantasy RPG from Sandfall Interactive. Plus, Game of the Year Awards, Arc Raiders, CoD: Black Ops 6, Wizordum, and much more, too. ⚔️ shorturl.at/61Y4O

Last month, I popped over to Capcom HQ in Osaka to spend a few hours with Monster Hunter Wilds. Pleased to see performance improving; surprised to find myself enjoying the series flexing its storytelling muscles. www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/5-...

We’ll miss Tyler a ton, but delighted to see him grow, even if it means he has to adopt a less forward-thinking style guide!

Buggy? Yes. Broken? Sometimes. Do we love it? Absolutely. Stalker 2 is a welcome return for an eccentric series I can't help but adore. www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/st... #pcgamer #stalker2

stalker 2 is a very good, very buggy videogame. so it's stalker, basically. www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/st...

While everyone else is busy putting things *on* the computer, did you know we still take games from the computer and print them on paper every month? We call it a magazine and @robertnjones.bsky.social will mail it to you personally (he's very busy). Here's the latest issue.

At PC Gamer we've been talking about how to convey the scale of 16,000+ game devs being laid off in a year, without forgetting that number represents individual people with their own stories. This is our first attempt: 16,000 dots, alongside voices of those affected. www.pcgamer.com/the-impact-o...
