🔥🔥MUST READ: Senator Jack Reed, a former Army Paratrooper: “A clear message is being sent to military leaders: Failure to demonstrate personal and political loyalty to Trump could result in retribution.” MORE: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

As of yesterday, there were 58 reported cases of measles in Texas. 13 of which were hospitalized. Tens of thousands of dollars racked up in medical bills. (40k?) A one night stay at hospital in TX averages about $3,000 One MMR vaccine in TX averages $100 without insurance with a private doctor.

Put aside the nastiness of this post, & the way in he attacks Zelenskyy as a dictator but says not a word about his pal Putin, & just focus on the way it is written: would you hire this weird person to work for you? Would you trust this odd person to teach your kid in school?

The pediatric vaccine schedule doesn’t need to be “scrutinized.” It has saved the young lives of millions worldwide. It’s perfectly fine as it is. Far more burning and urgent health matters to attend to. We certainly don’t need to invent one to keep busy.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

so special ed programs are getting gutted because their internal documentation used the term "transition" when talking about helping disabled kids enter the working world. they're literally striking at that word wherever they see it.

As the Trump administration is firing thousands of NIH workers — including 10% of the CDC team, the measles outbreak in Gaines County, Texas has suddenly doubled to at least 48 cases. The outbreak has grown from 24 to 48 cases within the last three days. All cases are in unvaccinated people or…

INCOMPETENCE OF NUCLEAR PROPORTIONS Trump officials fired nuclear staff not realizing they oversee the country’s weapons stockpile. Now, they are rushing to rescind their terminations.

If you are pissed about this but weren’t pissed about them cutting off medical care to trans children you are on step two of the “first they came for” poem

NEW: Trump and Musk’s efforts to shrink the government have left the country’s wildland firefighting force unprepared for the approaching wildfire season. One federal employee likened the funding freeze to a “massive sledgehammer” hitting the force.

This is Handmaid’s Tale-level shit. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/b...

There is literally HIV being transmitted from mom to baby because of the illegal shutdown of US AID and now Trump’s State Department wants to spend 400 million dollars on Tesla cyber trucks. This is not about efficiency. It’s a smash and grab.

Elon Musk and DOGE lied about FEMA giving NYC $59 million to put immigrants in “luxury hotels” As a result, multiple FEMA employees-labeled as “deep state activists”-lost their jobs Now Musk’s team appears to have taken $80 million-straight from the City’s bank accounts How is that not illegal

Johns Hopkins officials said the NIH funding cut puts at risk approximately 600 current and ongoing clinical trials at Hopkins, including open clinical trials in cancer, pediatrics and children’s health, heart and vascular studies and the aging brain. www.thebaltimorebanner.com/education/hi...

-- A Chicago doctor is unable to consult "CDC resources to combat a recent Chlamydia outbreak" in a local school. -- A Connecticut doctor "is left scrambling for alternatives" when seeking information about contraceptives Trump's moves made doctors' jobs "harder and their treatment less effective"

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out. Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation. Say equity, which a just society should pursue. Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

this website shows you how many jobs NIH funding creates for your state along with the overall economic activity generated www.unitedformedicalresearch.org/nih-in-your-...

"Trump's actions must be called out for the damage they are doing" @thelancet.bsky.social www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

to call this a clown show is unfair to clowns. pure madness. like playing russian roulette with a machine gun. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/u...

So this is how this DOJ will operate. Actions and beliefs are deemed CRIMINAL if they are not in line with this Administration’s beliefs and platform. There is no criminal penalty for supporting or even continuing to apply DEIA principles. This is a muscle job. Corporations must stiffen their spines.

Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt. Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

Turns out the 25-year-old DOGE operative that got access to the Treasury Dept payment systems that manage 95% of all US govt payments, didn't just get "read only" access was previously claimed. He got "admin" access and has already made extensive changes to the code base

(Bloomberg) - Elon Musk said his “DOGE team” of government efficiency enforcers is shutting down payments to federal contractors, suggesting that the world’s richest man may have access to sensitive systems used at the US Treasury Department. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

If you’ve been wondering what Elon Musk and his lackeys are up to since taking control of the US government, look no further. Our latest story names six 19- to 24-year-olds working with his DOGE organization, which now has access to sensitive federal systems. wrd.cm/4jzpiSN

“Anatomy of a Failure: Why This Latest Vaccine-Autism Paper is Dead Wrong” Brilliant and much-needed takedown of the latest anti-vax misinformation and propaganda from the pseudo-scientists, ahead of the RFK hearings.

Make it make sense???

This is Carolyn Edwards. She was one of the first officers attacked and knocked out on January 6th. She bravely testified before the January 6th committee. She is one of the bravest people I know and she deserves better. (She posted this publicly on her FB page which is why I'm sharing publicly)

“The Trump administration, moving quickly to clamp down on health and science agencies, has canceled a string of scientific meetings and instructed federal health officials to refrain from all public communications…” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/01/22/h...

NEW: The Department of Labor report found widespread noncompliance and violations of federal law in how health plans and insurers cover mental health care, echoing the findings of a recent ProPublica investigation. propub.li/4aue7qi

Scientific advancements aside, this is economically irresponsible Every $1 spent by NIH generates $2.46 For example, in 2023, $47B in NIH spending generated ~$93B Halting NIH spending will LOSE the US a lot of money (and talent)

Dunno what they have planned, but a devastated NIH will destroy universities and academic science (on the heels of significant COVID impacts) but will also destroy biotech and cede US leadership in this sector to China and elsewhere very very quickly.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research. Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions

Promise made, promise kept.

President Trump has pardoned 1,500 people who stormed the Capitol four years ago to block his successor from taking office, including 174 charged with using weapons or assaulting police and conspirators who plotted "to oppose by force the lawful transfer of presidential power."

"Here's What You Can Do to Keep Democracy Alive During Trump's Second Term" Authoritarians thrive on fear and hopelessness. For Zeteo, George Lakoff & Gil Duran outline 17 important and useful things you can do to *not* give into such negativity. Read/share/subscribe:

Not everyone can fight Trumpism and Trumpists directly. But remember this: kindness, decency, and fidelity to American values are defiance in the face of Trumpism. So be kind, decent, and faithful, particularly to the many kinds of people despised and attacked by Trumpists. That’s revolutionary./1

Wow. An inspiring message that is helping me get out of bed this morning.

Trump hated TikTok (because China) until it helped him win an election (as even he acknowledges) and now he’s going to save it and take a victory lap. So he’ll have X, TikTok, Insta, and Facebook all working on his behalf. That’s a big difference between now and 2017.

Yeah, he’s not a historian. He’s a computer engineer who has cobbled together some incredibly dumb claims about history and apparently convinced even dumber people that they somehow make sense.

GOP members complaining about reduction of military standards while using a chart that misspells the word military!
