I think Putin has put this idea in Trumps mind. Putin benefits from the US and Canada in economic and political chaos.

Similar here. GG Granddad came in the famine 1848 as an infant. His grave is 20 paces from his son, my grandad. Which is ~20 paces from his son, my dad. And that’s where I’ll be buried, about 15 k from home. What a legacy of Cdn family!

Segments of Tennyson’s Ulysses. 55 yrs ago and they ring stronger now, as I and Ulysses have aged. Start with the words ‘Come, my friends’ Click on the image.

Ran into a challenge with verification. I have an apostrophe in my name as do many. Drivers license has it. Passport typed field has it. But the embedded files in my passport do not. Name discrepancy stopped the process. Anyone else get this? O’Shea, O’Hara, O’Donnell? Just me?

I’m in the front, at the Table Lands in Newfoundland. June and there’s snow on the hills. Bitter cold rain and STILL delighted.

But amid the working out of MAGA hatred of white lab coats - what happened to all those Republicans who just yesterday wanted cures for diseases? They've flipped from pro-trade to anti-trade, from pro-NATO to anti-NATO. But who flips from anti-cancer to pro-cancer? END

‘World Without Mind’ by Franklin Foer declared the same thing. Big Tech does not want competition and will lobby for monopolies. So much for the American philosophy of competition making things better.

With all the ‘Governor Trudeau’ insults, can we refuse to recognize their Ambassador when they present their papers? (I don’t know the official term)

American take over is Trump’s theme. Canada, Panama, Greenland. Now Gaza. He is drunk on power and Republicans keep slipping him drinks. (I know he doesn’t drink. Metaphor here).

Spoken as a Canadian, he will indeed tariff you anyway. Trump said it was fentanyl but it never was. (50kg seized in 2024 that’s all). So whatever Starmer is telling you, it’s something else.

This Canadian retired grandmother knew it was going to happen. Face-eating time was predicted. How could bank analysts be that naive?

The shelves are arranged the same for everyone. The first book on the shelf is the same- no algorithms re-jig the shelf depending on who is there. Nothing ‘rises to the top’ for me but not you. The library is stable.

Every culture has stories about good fairies, naughty spirits, boogey men. Why deny our kids any part of this? Reason and bare facts are fine but we are more than logic. And kids grow out of it *when they are ready*. They know when to leave it behind - right of passage.

I read children’s versions of the Iliad and Odyssey to my boys. Many times. Many versions. My adult son still remembers Achilles leaping off the ship to be first to land and thus have a short life but live in glorious memory forever. And yes, my son leaps into things in his own life! #lasting

Read one set in ancient Alexandria. ‘The marketplace was full of excitement and a ripple of electricity ran through her.’ How did the editor miss that!
