Be careful with your words Greg. I’m a boomer and have lots of boomer friends. We are all desperately worried about climate change. I’m not rich but lots of rich people are worried about it too. On the other hand there are lots of much younger people who deny or just don’t care about climate change.

Well she’s not alone there. The media esp Murdoch as well as the major parties have all conflated criticism of Israel with antisemitism. No one in the media have even questioned this.

Not sure how many would come even given what Trump’s doing. Funding for medical research - and in fact for any and all research - in Australia is dismal.

Absolutely correct. Many segments of the public service - both State and Federal - need to be much more efficient but just sacking people won’t make that happen. There needs to be cultural change, which is much more difficult, and which doesn’t fit with the current political culture of blame.

Investment bubbles have been around for a couple of hundred years at least. Regardless of the value of the commodity or idea at the start, bubbles are driven by a mix of FOMO and greed. In this case if it hadn’t been DeepSeek that burst the bubble, eventually something else would have.

Not just WA. I can’t believe that as a country we’re so bloody stupid that we (1) can’t keep enough of our own gas for our own use and (2) refuse to charge anything like adequate royalties etc.

Facts are enemy #1 for the right wing/populists like Trump, Musk et al. So denying free access to facts (as distinct from “alternative facts “) is a key part of their agenda. It makes checking on their lies harder.
