I updated my list of Michigan college and university leaders who have signed the AAC&U's "A Call for Constructive Engagement" statement. tomkephart.me/michigan-ins...

My new job title.

#Tigers C Tomas Nido has changed his number from #58 to #0. The #Tigers are one of 5 teams who have never had a player wear either 0 or 00, which will change if he appears in a game. The others are the #Marlins , #Orioles, #Braves and #Dbacks

Tork Bomb! 1-0 #Tigers

The propaganda derived from the intersection of alternative medicine and the anti-vaccine movement is a bottomless pit of science illiteracy.

Xenu help us, this man is a barely sentient bowl of oatmeal. But yes, please go on about how Democrats should focus on Joe Biden.

very nice

political journalists obsess over the public’s lack of trust in our profession but strangely see that as downstream of things like “we didn’t talk enough about how biden was old” and not “many of us appear to be indifferent to a nihilistic attack on the constitution”

Thrilled for my friend Alexandra. Truly the best at what she does, and what she does is pretty great. Sad for the Post, and all those who remain, pursuing the mission.

"I did this!"

Depressingly likely that he’s hung up because the technical term has the word “deficit” in it and it causes his cue-ball brain to short circuit. He can’t process that as anything other than us = behind. If economists said “the U.S. has a rich-nation advantage over its trading partners” he’d move on.

Sure would work better than announcing that you’re not going to impeach and then going on Sunday political shows every so often to glumly complain that your Republican colleagues, who you insist are good hearted people and your very good friends, should someday do the right thing.

Excellent coverage of the new India Pakistan conflict.

Lest we forget: Filling the big shoes of Ben Sasse!

Something I hope everyone covers this tomorrow notes is that...the President has no authority whatsoever to make trade deals without congress. None. Not even the pretext of one.

"Trump is using tax dollars as a weapon to enact his social policy without the hassle of having to get Congress to pass a law. He would prefer to bombastically state what the law is & bully everyone into complying rather than test out his fantastical legal theories in court." — @lizdye.bsky.social

Not how this works. Stupid. Impeachable.

Today would also be a good day for an impeachment.

Perfect.

it's jolting how little AI skepticism has reached the general public. i've had many acquaintances ask whether i use AI for research and seem shocked when i tell them it's completely useless for that purpose. my wife recently told her colleagues about hallucinations and it was news to all of them.

We tend to give Trump far too much credit when he makes a pronouncement. Even if it seems ridiculous (and it almost always is), we struggle to suss out the four-dimensional chess moves he's supposedly making. Here are two more examples.

Trump’s repeated mentions of adolescent “beautiful baby girls” and the number of dolls they’ll be allowed to have is, to put it mildly, weird.

Tulsi Gabbard, now the US director of national intelligence, used the same easily cracked password for different online accounts including a personal Gmail account and Dropbox over a period of years, leaked records reviewed by WIRED reveal. www.wired.com/story/tulsi-...

🚨🚨 Deranged letter from Education Secretary Linda McMahon to Harvard’s president, cutting off federal funding for any new grants. Worth reading in full. It is NUTS.

Armed protesters entered Michigan’s state capitol in April 2020 over restaurant and barber shop restrictions. In the middle of a world health crisis. We absolutely do not “understand shared sacrifice.”

Or you boot someone else out of a job, force them out before they even secure a pension. Someone who won a massive majority of votes in his riding. You were soundly defeated by the very people who supported you for 20 years. You're a loser. #cdnpoli

Truly wild how little he seems to understand about this.

The most dangerous legal doctrine right now is a "norm" the courts developed to presume good faith and regularity from presidents and their administrations. For the sake of democracy, the courts must stop presuming donald Trump is a regular president. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/the-...

I visited the USSR in 1979 and brought home some posters that looked just like this

I'd like to point out that in this whiskey-driven bit of "DOD Rapid Response" mental masturbation, the bad guys with the drugs have already gotten past Hegseth and look like they're about to shoot and he doesn't even know they're there 🥃

What impunity looks like: "Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eli A. Alcaraz, Brian R. Faerstein and section chief Cassie Palmer resigned from the office over a 'post-trial' plea agreement [offered to] an L.A. County sheriff’s deputy who was *convicted of a felony* for assaulting and pepper-spraying a woman"

This entire administration is a collection of snickering fifth grade boys. Elon’s got milk shooting out of his nose
