Other parties are too busy terrified of Reform or trying desperately to sound exactly like them. Only the Liberal Democrats can stand strong against divisive populism, defend true British values and offer a positive alternative to the hate and division.

We hadn’t won World War II by May 8th. I know because my family and I were still in an internment camp in Tule Lake, California.

Labour is handing this country on a silver platter to Reform. People do not vote Labour because they hate immigrants and want Reform-lite. They vote Labour because they want it to make a positive difference to their lives.

This is so gross. The brazenness of the conflict of interest. And they don't give a shit. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/u...

Absolutely insane. Uneblieveable. "Sex Matters", one of the hate groups responsible for removing trans people's rights via the Supreme Court are arguing that trans people shouldn't be allowed to transition because they don't have rights and not having rights is bad. Fucking hell

This is what trans allyship looks like. Thank you, @eddavey.libdems.org.uk

What's that? Oh, just Ed Davey campaigning beside a trans #LibDem local election candidate as the main picture in the leading article about the local elections in today's FT! Best of luck to all @libdems.org.uk candidates in tomorrow's local elections. 💛 FT article here: www.ft.com/content/8089...

Kemi Badenoch keeps calling for inquiries into the rape gangs. I’m just very confused as to why she never thought to look into this important issue herself when she was Minister for Women. #PMQs

Farage's numbers look false, skewed or spun Of the 16% (10.6m) people born abroad, 6/10 had arrived before 2011 [so he can't claim 7m new registrations since 2015] - about 4/10 of those born abroad are UK citizens + non-citizens on visas pay £1035/year NHS surcharge. NHS net gain on £ now

Nigel Farage has said Reform UK will have a Minister for Deportations. He added that they would also have a Minister for Dog Whistling, a Secretary of State For Shit Stirring and a Department of Complete Bollocks.

From trans rights to the environment, Labour's election manifesto is proving to be useful in predicting government policy. Read the manifesto, they'll do the opposite.

On being called DEI and why it isn’t the burn they think it is

Finding Meta AI in my WhatsApp (which product manager thought I needed this?), I decided to ask it about Meta's homophobic harassment policy. It agrees the policy "might impact LGBT individuals negatively, as it could allow harmful or stigmatizing speech about their mental health".

Well, well. Starmer turning his back on trans people because he thinks he can get away with it under the cover of the Supreme Court ruling. Disgusting. And as for @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social, not worthy of the title of Equalities Minister. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

When I was 16 I worked the checkout at a big supermarket. We had a couple who were regular customers: one not-very-passing trans lady and her (I think) wife. Her card said Mrs X. So I called her Mrs X. She started coming to my till every time because I was the only one who didn't call her "sir".

Time to cancel my @theguardian.com subscription.

The Minister who introduced the Gender Recognition Bill in the House of Lords in 2003 made it clear that "a transsexual person would have protection under the Sex Discrimination Act [the predecessor to the Equality Act] as a person of the acquired sex or gender." /1

I am increasingly disappointed that the concerns of the #LGBTQ+ community over what the Supreme Court judgement means for them are not yet being addressed. I have written to the Government asking them to make clear how trans and non binary rights will be protected.

Now we know who the inspiration for Voldemort was.

Genetic modification has gone too far

This is high art

Flashback to three months ago: Wall Street was excited because Trump would let say them say the word 'retard' www.ft.com/content/cf87...

Hello spring!

On the bright side, at least Brexit is no longer the stupidest and most pointless act of economic self-harm of the century

Today is #InternationalAsexualityDay – a reminder that ace identities are real, valid and part of our wonderful #LGBTQ+ family. No one should have to justify how they experience attraction – or don’t. We stand with our ace community today and every day! #AceVisibility 🖤🩶🤍💜

Lots of news from US, and this is especially significant. The DoJ suspends a lawyer for candour to the court when answering judge’s questions. This is important, as any lawyer has duties both to client and to the court. The system breaks down otherwise. www.reuters.com/world/americ...

Can we get more of this? “The Japanese American National Museum will ‘scrub nothing,’ Fujioka said, and instead will highlight the importance of DEI. “Our community is based on diversity, equity is guaranteed to us in the Constitution, and inclusion is what we believe in,” Fujioka said.

Destroying the balance of payments is exploitation in one simple argument: A poor country that sells eg. vanilla is going to sell a lot to the US but not be able to afford to buy much in return. It’s not complicated. They’re not exploiting you.

Reform UK is trying to take us all for fools. So on April Fools Day, we’re exposing all of Reform’s hypocrisy so far (1/who knows????) 🧵

Senator Cory Booker, his voice still booming after more than a day spent on the Senate floor railing against the Trump administration, surpassed Strom Thurmond for the longest Senate speech on record, in an act of astonishing stamina that he framed as a call to action. nyti.ms/4iXMx8m

Just a straight-up, brazen, demonstrable lie from the Vice-President of the United States. They have no shame and they seem to be able to get away with it too. Abrego Garcia is not a ‘convicted MS-13 gang member.’ This is flat false from Vance.

Many Canadians living abroad already have their postal ballots, 4 weeks ahead of the election. That efficiency is needed for UK elections. Only 50% of postal ballots from abroad were counted at last year's election. We need better. Good luck @mark-carney.bsky.social and the Liberal Party!

Le Pen and MEP colleagues guilty of embezzling & misappropriation of public funds. Length of ban from standing for office is tbc www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

The reason DEI exists is so that competent, qualified people don't get passed over in favor of mediocre incompetent white men who had a well-connected buddy. Or so that utter morons who share war plans on the group chat don't hire their brother and get away with it bc they're white dudes.

Uh-huh. I can hear them saying "how hard can it be? I could rewrite that in a weekend" from here. I hope people don't die from them fucking this up. www.wired.com/story/doge-r...

These are the heroes of our time. Be on the right side of history folks. Do right by the rule of law and democracy. Do NOT be a coward who obeys in advance!

These men behind bars are not in prison after being charged with crimes. They are "enemy combatants" being detained in a concentration camp. As such, Kristi Noem's crass photo-op using them as props violates the Geneva Convention's prohibition of ‘exposure to public curiosity’ of those captured.

Yep

Trump's obversifications were tracked during his first term by the Washington Post. They documented 30,573 lies or misleading claims, an average of 21 per day. He’s now on course to break his own record.

This desperately needs fixing. Imagine having to live under that uncertainty in the last month of being in a country of sanctuary for 3 years. It's entirely unnecessary to have such a restriction, and bureaucracy winning over human decency.

What's most revealing and disgusting about the Signal messages is the fake Christianity. They're not praying that innocent lives won't be lost, they're praying for victory.
