Sadly, “Cha Cha Cha” by EMF. I had such such high hopes after the brilliant but underappreciated “Stigma”. Was just left totally “ohhhh wellll”.

On hold to a private exam centre, in the hope I can fix a potentially monstrous cockup with some looming A Levels. Just the combination of bureaucratic and cataclysmic that'll be doing me a whole ton of good right now. :(

After a LOT of very meditative and comforting soldering over this weekend* I've now got a fully functioning "Workshop System". And it's absolutely insane. Most of this is just feedback, with the occasional knob-tweak. soundcloud.com/tomskerous/w... *plus a lot of support from Thonk, and a 15V PSU.

JUST BECAUSE THE PRESENT ISN'T GREAT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE PAST WAS BETTER Honestly, this is dumb and we do this like every two months

Have plenty of synthesisers. Was feeling very sorry for myself. Now have plenty+1 synthesisers. It's all Tom Whitwell's fault. Except for the bits that are @mylarmelodies.bsky.social's fault.

I know it's not as vibrant as the bird place was, back in the day, but by golly there are some lovely caring people on here.

Gah. Still. That’s all.

Did that weird thing with Eurorack, where you keep coming across the same problem, and eventually realise there are two possible ways to solve it. Agonised for a while. Decided to buy two of the same mixing utility modules, to solve with approach A. Accidentally bought one of each. But…

I love this. For me it would probably have to be called the disloyalty card.

Made it to (checks watch) 10:55am before feeling like I needed to go back to bed again. :-(

Via @radiobeartime.com this is a very good set of reminders about standups.

High quality boom-tish.

Chuffing Norah. That was incredible. The new Self Esteem album is just brilliant. All the juxtaposition of tragic and hilarious and furious you’d expect. Can’t wait for next Friday.

Going to be quite an emotional day. Just over 3 years ago I was bawling my eyes out at @selfesteem.music-social.com.ap.brid.gy performing her self-confessed “worst gig ever” in someone’s back garden in Austin. Tonight: stalls seat at the Duke of York’s theatre. Blimey it’s been quite the time.

Job plug. Senior PM for our mobile app at Which? It's been on a big journey in the last year, and is now faster, more heavily used, and highly rated than a year ago. But what next? We need someone to join us and help. Financial services experience would be handy. www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/42...

Weeknote - where I find I’m not as well as I’d hoped, get really really annoyed by my iPhone’s music library, get wistful about old interactive narrative, and actually record a bit of generative music. www.leaningforward.com/blog/2025/04...

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but 2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but 3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So 4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

Managed nearly a whole day of Doing Work today. Was lovely to see people. I think I was lightly useful. And then I had an ocular migraine at Waitrose while buying dinner, and was in bed just after 9pm as a result. Rats.

Back in bed, realising I needed paracetamol. How is that still a thing? Pah.

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen
