NEWS! Five Guys burger chain on the verge of becoming entirely arsehole-free

This is why we need independent media outlets funded by the public. Our Byline Times story is still available to read despite attempts to suppress it.

Surely this can’t be true? The biggest fear “most people” will have is of never being able to access those services when they need them. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

“They try to destroy truth because truth is the greatest threat to their rule. As long as truth exists, they can be scrutinised and held wanting. Once it is vanquished… there is no basis upon which they can be held to account.” We absolutely must hold the line. iandunt.substack.com/p/the-lies-a...

🔴 ‘Don’t Buy a Swasticar’: Tesla Hit by UK Boycott Campaign Over Elon Musk’s Far-Right Support Electric vehicle producer Tesla has been targeted by activists due to its far-right owner’s interference in British politics bylinetimes.com/2025/02/21/d...

A former Soviet spy says that Trump was indeed recruited to the KGB 38 years ago by his department. He was given a codename, 'Krasnov'. We checked, and the source was indeed a KBG intelligence officer at the time. Read about it in my @bylinetimes.bsky.social report: bylinetimes.com/2025/02/21/d...

In case anyone is still uncertain whether Trump and Musk are allied to Putin — @bylinetimes.bsky.social has been covering the Trump alliance for six years, and we cottoned onto Musk quite quickly

Americans proposed that Ukraine concede half of the profits from its mineral rights in perpetuity... in exchange for essentially nothing. This is not a monetary proposition, let alone a "deal," but rather the demand that Ukraine become a permanent American colony. snyder.substack.com/p/recoup-the...

I think there’s this tendency to assume Musk enters each agency with some kind of plan. But his office is 30 people, largely children, and the federal government employs millions. He spends half his time on drugs, tweeting, doing interviews. It’s all random noise www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

A former senior KGB spy chief says Trump was recruited by them in 1987 due to his role as a prominent US businessman

Hillary was right about this fucking puppet.

It is my duty to report that the Daily Mail, through its lawyers RPC, seems to have abandoned its hopeless attempt to bully us into submission with feeble defamation threats.

🔴‘I Asked Nigel Farage’s Supporters What They Really Want and the Answers Were Alarming’ My time spent mingling with Reform supporters online revealed a lot about where the UK could be heading next, argues David Goff bylinetimes.com/2025/02/20/r...

NEW: The director of data science and engineering for what is now known as the US DOGE Service has resigned. "If DOGE truly was concerned with efficiency, they wouldn’t have fired experts in procurement," she writes, "who prevent waste up front." This is by @makenakelly.bsky.social

For @columjournreview.bsky.social, @aisvarya17.bsky.social and I tested Grok-3's ability to identify quotes from news publishers. Out of the 200 quotes we tested, 102 returned hallucinated citations and the original source article was correctly cited only nine times. www.cjr.org/the_media_to...

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

So Nigel Farage has chosen to explain away Trump’s outrageous remarks about President Zelensky instead of doing the right thing and condemning them. Deeply disappointing but not at all surprising. He sounds like a spokesman for Trump. He certainly doesn’t speak for Britain.

Credit where it's due.

'If you tax the rich they will leave' is an admission that the rich are mercenary and predatory, that we are held hostage by them. Tax the self-serving rich who feed on our country like vampires, tax their assets, their income, and close every kind of tax evasion and avoidance loophole.

Trump’s framing of these talks is so wrong. 1) Why does Russia have any right to any sovereign Ukrainian territory? 2) Why’s the US “mediating”? Have both parties asked it to? 3) How can the US be a mediator when it’s seeking its own material gain from at least one party? 4) Why exclude Europe?

Time to evict AirBnB from your life, if you have't already.

I think this is true. Our Labour government is doing some good stuff, but it doesn’t get reported. We only hear about the bad stuff.

The UK has the lowest pensions in Europe, the lowest sick pay, and Universal Credit is one of the poorest benefits in the EU. The only decent benefit is Housing Benefit, which goes straight to landlords. There is no living it up on benefits

Despite what the press tells us, the government is very busy, often doing popular things. But you wouldn’t know it from the press coverage eastangliabylines.co.uk/politics/gov...

MAGA acts like finding fraud in government is some new thing DOGE invented. They aren’t good at it, but experts who were let go were.

💥 Well how about that. After years of Brexiteers saying we had to leave the EU to avoid being forced into a European army… … it turns out that Brits are fine with the idea. With the UK explicitly included. A plurality of Tory voters support it - and even a fair chunk of Reform. How times change…

Out of step? @emmalewellbuck.bsky.social

Elon Musk is starting to fund politically motivated litigation in the United Kingdom.

What a pathetic, culture-war-bullshit response to Vance’s speech. So deeply unserious. Ignoring entirely the glaring threat we face from these strutting little American despots, treating us all like pawns in the power games they want to play with Putin and Netanyahu. But she’s incapable of better.

One 125 ton Wind Turbine will in its lifetime produce the same amount of energy as burning 175,000 tonnes of coal. Imagine all that profit flowing away. That's why they hate them so much.

This is the “Guilford Window” in St Dunstan’s at Cranbrook. I guess it counts as “late mediaeval”. I was surprised that the whole window is currently completely ignored by the Eberhardt database.

On a very cold #StainedGlassSunday, I found myself in one of my favourite Kent churches, enjoying their colourful glass. This is a nice Annunciation, by EA Kempe, from 1902. It’s in St Dunstan’s, in Cranbrook. I am intrigued by the sewing kit, on the red cushion, in the right-hand pane.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch today launches her campaign for “Free Speech” in the UK, taking her lead from Musk. A reminder that “Free Speech” is Right Wing code for the freedom to cause harm by saying racist, misogynistic or homophobic things in public without consequence.

Exactly this 👇

Of course our risible rightwing reports Vance’s speech as a warning to us and a defence of free speech, rather than the excruciatingly demented diplomatic incontinence that it was. Happy to take this shit from a fellow authoritarian rather than face up to their own descent into ruinous madness.

I only realised yesterday that The Times' editor used to be deputy editor of the Daily Mail and it does help explain why The Times is total dogsick.

Russia literally bombed a nuclear facility on European soil. Last night.

It's been a long time since Private Eye's satire has made me audibly wince, but this is so to the point if it were a knife people would demand it be banned.

Still internalising the Vance Munich speech. A sitting Vice President goes to Europe, barely says a word about the despotic murderous regime which has invaded its neighbour, and instead lectures his allies about freedom of speech. It’d be funny if it weren’t so serious.

Musk, Vance & Trump all misrepresent democracy. When they say “democracy”, they mean a free-for-all with no rule of law, where the winner takes all. When Europe says “democracy”, we mean proportional representation, collaborative politics, citizen rights, and agreed guide rails guaranteed by law.

Jean ‘Django’ Reinhardt's funeral. www.messynessychic.com/2024/04/12/d...

Insurrectionist supporter, Vance, lectures European leaders on democracy. Who the hell do these people think they are? They supported a violent coup to overthrow a democratic election in their own country, pardoned the guilty and now lecture us? Unbefuckinglievable. And yet also, tragically, not.
