I’d like to think I’m the first person to get into a flame war with VPOTUS from the swimming pool of Woburn Center Parcs at half-term.

listen to this. Elon can barely form a sentence right now.

Not sure what the issue is with him but in the last few years he has gone from inarticulate to incoherent. Drugs are one possible explanation, or insomnia from stress, or who knows. But he looks and sounds terrible, and it is just impossible not to feel that there is something deeply wrong with him.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

Sophy Ridge calls out President Trump's lies, "Donald Trump said Ukraine should never have started the war, that is not true, and it should be called out"

As well as the blatant lies told by Trump, it is galling that a bone-spur draft-dodger lectures a man who has set himself against a powerful invader and not flinched.

Trump has now completely humiliated his apologists in the U.K. but not one of them will be honest enough to admit it.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a dictator. He is a champion of democracy, freedom and truth.

Interestingly we have been noticing public anxiety coming through (including in a focus group I ran tonight of not highly engaged participants) the unpredictability of Trump and possibility of a scary event happening was what they wanted to discuss.

US isolation threatens global democracy, warns Major www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Canadians adapting to Trump’s threats by cancelling holidays to US, buying Canadian, and rewiring their trade to Europe and Asia. 👏👏👏 🇨🇦 ♥️🇪🇺

Good.

If you feel spending 2.5% or even 3% of the UK’s GDP on defence to be unaffordable, consider the price of falling victim to aggression. This year Ukraine will be committing 26.3% of its economy to the war

⚠️CDC WEBSITES DELETED—Multiple CDC websites and datasets related to HIV, LGBTQ people, youth health behaviors and more have been removed after the agency was directed to comply with an executive order from President Trump by 5pm deadline. Wildest is taking down even HIV pages!

What the fuck is going on?!

Tonight Parliament is lit up in purple, joining iconic buildings and landmarks across the UK in a moment of reflection for Holocaust Memorial Day. #HMD25 #LightTheDarkness

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/

EU medicines agency quits X & moves to Bluesky "EMA will no longer post updates and content on X. We believe the X platform no longer suits our communication needs” the agency said in a statement www.reuters.com/world/europe...

✍️There's something SERIOUSLY exciting happening in the world of batteries: an innovation that could pave the way for incredibly energy-dense, fast-charging cells in our cars and smartphones. But there's a catch; quite a big one. A deep dive into silicon batteries🔋 open.substack.com/pub/edconway...

Loads of great accounts to follow here for UK news

Could growing wealth inequality in the UK lead to societal collapse? Experts at our workshop with Future Threats Lab @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social and @policyatkings.bsky.social all thought it was feasible. Report at fairnessfoundation.com/inequality-k... and write-up in today's Observer below👇

Asked Wes Streeting at the Fabians New Year conference how Labour deals with Trump and the rise of the right across the world Streeting says: “It’s our responsibility to be the light on the hill for the progressive world.”

As I keep saying, we need to make @bsky.app the biggest social media platform on the planet, we need to do it with urgency & we need to send Elon Musk packing The number of BlueSky users tonight stands at 29,477,992. WE CAN DO THIS!

In pardoning all of the J6th insurrectionists, with barely a whimper of opposition, Trump has signalled a new age of acquiescence in American politics. He's trying to control not just the present but the past. In effect, he was pardoning himself. New from me. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

It's unanimous. A majority of voters in every constituency in England, Scotland and Wales think the government should prioritise trade with the EU over Trump's America or other countries. It's even the most popular view in Clacton. (Sorry Nigel 🙃)

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH** * Currently paused by Executive Order ** Grant reviews now all canceled www.kcur.org/news/2025-01...

The folks obsessively posting about egg prices for the past few years have gone strangely quiet just as egg prices hit an all-time high.

One thing about me is that I will fight Nazis until I’m six feet in the ground.

When a single billionaire can accumulate more money in 10 seconds than their employees make in one year, while workers struggle to meet the basic cost of rent and medicine, then yes, every billionaire really is a policy failure. Read our op-ed here ⤵️

As journalists we have to walk a fine line, and sensitive stories often need to pass internal legal reviews before publication. I like how Wired handled this — the headline doesn’t mince words and actually shows you how Musk’s salute is being received by Nazis www.wired.com/story/neo-na...
