The actual "winning" strategy is to be a party on the side of EVERYONE and to stress that you are PARTICULARLY standing 10 toes down for the most vulnerable people.

CNN reporting that Senate Democrats are “disappointed” in House members for violating “decorum” at Trump’s speech last night. Just utterly clueless. And worth remembering next time those senators wax reverently about John Lewis.

“What they want to do is fire immigration judges that don’t issue rulings to their liking, and replace them with judges that will simply rubberstamp what Trump wants.” -Matt Biggs president of the union that represents the nation's 700 immigration judges, quoted in this piece:

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.

Reps. Rashida Tlaib & Pramila Jayapal are leading resolutions to block $8.56 billion of new US weapons transfers to Israel. The resolutions are House companions to the Senate ones led by Bernie Sanders to block the transfers. Here are the 15 members of Congress signed on:

Someone generously shared this template of a handout they were inspired to create for their local community with me. Here's a canva link if you'd like to adapt it for your communities: www.canva.com/design/DAGgN...

I hate that our trans legislators have to work in such hostile and dangerous situations. So grateful for all of their bravery and willingness to fight for every kid, but so sad this is what they have to deal with at work each day.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, which helped facilitate the handover of captives in Gaza and the Palestinian prisoners, says it’s “essential” to preserve a ceasefire. 🔴 LIVE updates ⤵️

The lawsuit says there is no legitimate reason to send migrants to Guantánamo because the U.S. has an ample detention facility.

On that pre-surrender bullshit

As I’ve said before, you really ought to befriend a Latin Americanist to navigate what’s here.

All of us must reject this transparent attempt to criminalize, entrap, and spread more fear and confusion in our communities. No good has ever come out of forced registries that subject people to racial profiling and tee up entire communities to be targeted for detention and deportation.

It's here!

Leavitt lies repeatedly in this clip, claiming falsely that everyone sent to Guantanamo is a criminal (fully a third had no criminal record at all) and that all of them "invaded" the country (several of those sent to Guantanamo enter the US legally through the CBP One app).

BREAKING: A federal judge just blocked Donald Trump's executive order pausing the US Refugee Admissions Program saying it appeared to "cross the line" into "nullification of congressional will."

There's something that @adriennemareebrown.bsky.social regularly says which is that you don't need to live in someone else's imagination. I think that it's so important to hold on to this. Work to create the world YOU want to live in rather than to succumb to the one designed by your enemy.

A must read by my friend and comrade Lewis

ProPublica and @texastribune.org have identified nearly a dozen immigrants who have been flown to Guantanamo Bay. Government officials have refused to release the names of detainees or provide details about the crimes that landed them in detention. By Perla Trevizo and @micarosenberg.bsky.social

Yes. Wrote this back in September, pre-election, on Democrats' baffling immigration posture: "If Americans are inundated by rhetoric from a majority of the political establishment that there is an immigration crisis, it’s more likely than not they’ll come to believe it." zeteo.com/p/haitians-m...

To navigate these terrible times, we need Audre’s Lorde’s audacity: Protect the public sphere. Refuse to be silenced.

I heard Ezra Klein on a podcast saying that "the resistance" was "dead" before 2 weeks ago and I BEG people to put ACTUAL organizers on air. Please. Klein etc... simply DO NOT UNDERSTAND activism or organizing or social movements. Get people into the media who actually do.

In Minnesota, can a county jail hold onto an inmate past a scheduled release date until federal immigration authorities arrive? At Ramsey County's request, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison's office has weighed in to clarify, and his answer is no. www.twincities.com/2025/02/07/m...

Israel has tried everything—genocide, erasure, apartheid—but it can’t break Palestinians' resilience or their right to return home. The fight for justice lives on. Read more:

"Some of these patients have just weeks or days to live ... like 2-year-old Habiba al-Askari, who may die within days due to a rare but treatable condition. As CNN has documented, al-Askari's family has obtained permission for her to seek treatment in Jordan — but Israel has delayed her evacuation."

Much thanks to @elliottpayne.org for his advocacy and leadership. We need our local leaders to show up for our students.

Lynx. So rad. So much paw.

“What keeps us going, ultimately, is our love for each other, and our refusal to bow our heads, to accept the verdict, however all-powerful it seems. It’s what ordinary people have to do. You have to love each other. You have to defend each other. You have to fight.” -Mike Davis

Just a reminder that you are one person and that you are unlikely to even be able to save yourself alone if called on to do so. These are collective struggles. Do your part. No more, no less.
