I keep thinking about how I was in 2017: being more politically active, even going to a few marches. But I eventually suffered burnout and depression pretty bad. I had to step away from that to keep myself sane. I refuse to spiral back down to that again.

Like, I too got caught in the trap of doomposting and just feeling the worst before. Things are shit right now, this is undeniably true. But we WILL get through this. We have to.

Oregonians: this Supreme Court ruling does not change Oregon law, which continues to provide the strongest protections for gender-affirming care in our country.

seriously, bluesky, can we get a "turn off reskeets for this user" feature already? nothing against some of y'all I follow, but goddamn I can't take this much constant bad shit, it's not healthy for me and it can't be healthy for you either

Anyway I was able to finish the draft and trim things down so it's a bit more concise even if it's still lengthy. All I had to do was step away and come back to it while in a better state of mind to do some copy editing. Should be hitting Patreon and such sometime this week.

I wonder if Quake 4 would run better in 4:3, kinda like how Need for Speed Most Wanted did if you weren't playing it in "EA HD" or if it would still be chuggy as hell

It's really wild that during the 6th generation, games were lucky to get above 30FPS, and early 360 games like Quake 4 and GRAW still struggled with that. It's not a big deal to me, but I can get why these games may be hard to come back to if you're used to 60FPS being the standard now.

Is this something any of y'all feel as well?

I think that's also why my ideas of like, reviewing film/game soundtracks, and covering game show ephemera haven't been started, because I want to go in with at least a bunch of posts right out of the gate. I don't wanna go "Oh here's a new thing I'm starting," post a few things, then stop.

I say this because I seem to always start a project, really get into it, then take a break for long periods until I come back to it again. I've been digitizing VHS tapes on and off since 2021 and it's still not done Even my recent idea of documenting CD Redbook Audio in console games has stalled.

It doesn't help that I'm currently at a crossroads where I have several article ideas, some as unfinished WIPs, but not one that definitively is done and ready to publish yet
