In just two months, DOGE has —lost— the government an estimated half a trillion dollars. I propose that Musk pay it back personally.

Last year I wrote about why Portugal (despite spending a fraction of what the U.S. does and is one of Europe’s poorer countries) has such a higher longevity rate. This is hard to wrap our heads around but we need to.

james surowiecki has discovered where the completely fabricated trump tariff rate has come from for each country "...for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us."

Asked my smart economist friend about how #TrumpTariffs help Americans or even the rich, because I couldn't see it, and he said, "It doesn't. He's destroying stuff. It doesn't benefit anyone...except our enemies."

Jeffries: "It was a terrible week. So what happens on Sunday? Trump says, intentionally, 'I'm serious about running for a third term.' He can't run for a third term! ... why does he say it? ... to distract from the terrible week that they've had. We're not gonna take the bait."

Nebraska voters passed a minimum wage increase. LB258 guts it. I’m calling on the advocacy community: Boycott the businesses of senators backing it. Picket their offices. Fill the rotunda. Your vote is not theirs to undo. #NELeg

Peoples lives aren’t metaphors. Demand that our elected officials talk about our lives & their godawful plans in plain honest language, because it’s our lives. We aren’t a house remodeling job, we aren’t a car engine to tinker with, we aren’t a balance sheet. We are the people.

Here’s some fraud and waste that doge can cut.

Not that it makes any difference to the GOP or "the base" at this point, but: For reasons of self-respect and later "what did you do during The Troubles, mommy and daddy?" questions, news organizations should not come even this close to legitimizing anti-American BS. www.npr.org/2025/03/31/n...

Just think what the reaction would be if Joe Biden, in his first months in office, had openly discussed overruling the 2nd Amendment. But Trump can do the same for the 22nd Amendment and it’ll be forgotten by evening and won’t prompt howls of outrage from every elected Dem or NYT headline writer.

So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?

once again, every accusation is a confession. republicans spent 15 years accusing democrats of winning elections by trading cash for votes. now, here we are.
