I genuinely think The Storygraph is just better than Goodreads. It's more fully featured, the book summaries are better, the rating increments are better, and the company is cool as heck. It's also super simple to migrate your Goodreads data over as well which is excellent!

Divesting myself of Amazon’s insidious integration into my life, I downloaded and converted all my Kindle books to epub (not easy, I was determined). Then imported them to Calibre. Then synced to BookFusion with a Calibre plugin. BookFusion is amazing. #booksky #romancereads #bookfusion

Cancelled Amazon and Kindle, got 3 library cards for the ones in my area and can listen to my books using Libby instead while also supporting my community Fuck oligarchs, fuck capitalism 😤

Hell yes, touch screens in cars are an abomination.

New month approaching so time for some more self-promotion. Don't let feeling overwhelmed make you apathetic. You can do something and it's important that you try. Don't choose to do no good when you can do some good. anthrorejects.com/reducing-my-...

Keep it going! #TeslaTakedown

Shop local if you can afford it. Don't be afraid to spend a little time hunting for a non-Amazon deal if you can't. Worth mentioning for ebooks most Amazon deals are mirrored on Kobo at the same time anyway

I really want to see more and more of this sentiment. Everything in our lives being landlorded by the super rich sucks

Jailbroken my Kindle Paperwhite. I think I'm finally on-board with KOReader after initially hating the upfront UX. Once you customise KOReader just right for you it's a pretty nice and feature rich e-reading option. Such a shame you can't use it on iPhone so its usefulness is limited for me

I want billionaires to have to give away their fortunes before they are allowed to present themselves as compassionate people. Like… I know some of them have used their money to do good things. Even great things. But at their core, they are still choosing to let people die just to stay ahead.

Newsletter: There is no AI Revolution. Consumer adoption of generative AI outside of ChatGPT is barely 100 million people, every single company in generative AI is deeply unprofitable, Microsoft is pulling capex, and OpenAI spent $9bn in 2024 to lose $5bn. www.wheresyoured.at/wheres-the-m...

The coincidental timing of my downloading of my entire Kindle library via the USB download option, only for it to come out that Amazon are removing that feature a week later, is tragically funny to me. I suppose my efforts paid off faster than I'd anticipated

Libraries are the best free access to knowledge and joy you will ever get. No billionaires. No one spying on you. Accessible to everyone. Libraries are precious and everyone should have a library card if they can. Check out which ebook app your library offers 📚

As a certain ~date~ given by a certain ~corporation~ approaches, after which users will no longer be able to download their ebooks... We're DRM-free, meaning you actually own your audiobooks. You can download the files whenever, & listen to them wherever. I know, I know...not ebooks. But still 😉

I wish bookshop.org sold ebooks in the UK. But I guess with everything happening over there right now I can't begrudge Americans getting a small thing to take the edge off. I'd want to escape into a book too. Also, Libro.fm is cheaper than Audible and they don't DRM your audiobooks

You might have more than 2 days left to download your Kindle library. Any Kindles with wifi that were released before 2015 should still use the .azw/.azw3 formats that can be stripped of DRM. So just sync your books to your old registered Kindle, plug it into your computer, and get them that way

Hello! I've started a blog about how everything is trash. My first post is about trying to crawl a bit further away from this billionaire-made hellscape we're presently stuck in: anthrorejects.com/reducing-my-...
