This teeny tiny purse in the form of a frog made in England in the 17th century. 8 cm long, it probably held sachets of perfume or herbs (Ashmolean Museum)

Stag beetles! They are just like stags, equipped with supposedly intimidating weapons on their heads but end up extremely cute and adorable! Well a stag can be deadly if you don’t keep a respectable distance, but stag beetles are totally harmless!

Stay safe, stay strong, stay beautiful 🏳️‍⚧️ #art

Today I did the laundry, but did not have the energy to go pick up the eagerly anticipated package full of stuff I’d ordered for fun and have been super excited about. Brains are weird, depression sucks, being able to do like 1-2 tasks each day is horrible

Latest in my SF enjoyment news: Currently listening to Leviathan Wakes, the first in the Expanse series, a near future SF book about kinda low tech life for the asteroid miners in the solar system asteroid belt and the late capitalism hell life that is. Lots of labour politics etc, I like it!

me when any program's AI assistant asks me if I want help writing:

Lately I’ve begun to really understand the whole “they dug too deep” thing. Maybe we shouldn’t have drilled to the bedrock underneath the Antarctic. Plus at the rate things are going, it’s likely that something will thaw from that ice and release into the air and it’ll be great

Speaking of #Spore, I wonder why no other games like it have been made after it? Stellaris is a bit similar, but the focus clearly lies on the battling and strategy elements, which is not my thing. I just want a game where you can make your own weird aliens and have them live their weird lives!

I've rediscovered that old game Spore, and now many years later it's not as bad as I thought. It's fun if you take it for what it is, and ignore completely the idea that it was supposed to be scientifically accurate etc. I've been playing as Portiids and octopodes! #aptshadow #childrenoftime #spider

"Butterfly Effect" is by far my favorite piece I've ever drawn. I know I keep sharing it, but I just hope it brings joy when people see it. (Plus I don't have a whole lot of new art to share.) #paleoart #sciart

HANG UP YOUR SPEAR, TODAY YOU WILL BATTLE DESPAIR. AND YOU WILL WIN.

I’m listening to Days of Shattered Faith by Adrian Tchaikovsky and I’m LOVING IT!!! It’s so good, I love all the weird and fun worldbuilding in it! #DaysOfShatteredFaith #AdrianTchaikovsky #TyrantPhilosophers 1/?)

If you’ve ever raised kittens, you know they get milk teeth first and then their adult teeth. The same was true for Smilodon. It took about 14 months for juvenile Smilodon to grow their adult teeth, a time when they stayed close to a parent and learned to hunt. 🧪

Morrowind (2002)

If you enjoy drawing medieval stuff you might want to have a bit of fun by designing a soldier for the 𝕾𝖔𝖓𝖘 𝖔𝖋 𝕺𝖗𝖐𝖚𝖘 mercenary company Guidelines: -15th century equipment -green metal -some sort of monstrous or grotesque design on the helmet

Decided to take a break from Godot for the day and rest my brain by trying my hand at some pixel art for the first time ever. This is fanart for a pretty damn old game, can you tell who it’s supposed to be and what game it’s from? #pixelart #guessthegame

Daily Godot update: Today I managed to build a house (actually one big, one medium and one small house) and give it a door that detects if the player is next to it and opens or closes based upon that. Tried to start making trees you can chop down too but ran out of brainpower. Lots of fun!

An extremely good thread about the legendary copper scammer Ea-nāșir (I know it’s not the correct diacritic, iPhone only had that one) who’s become a meme in our modern times. I love that this knowledge not only exists, but that mr Deloucas is kind enough to share it! #TheseKidsAndTheirTablets

Weird effect of trying to learn Godot: it’s actually reduced my SAD a bit, especially the tendency to get stuck in “doom spirals” and ruminating on either old trauma or catastrophic “but totally plausible” depression thoughts. I guess it’s because I’m learning and solving problems; not just idling

The ‘Screeching Fonowon’ from one of my Strangehollow books (Seas Of Strangehollow). A coast dwelling flightless bird. You can find the books here www.emilyhare.co.uk/collections/... #books #creaturedesign #bird #fantasyart

Regular #GodotEngine update: I’m now chipping away at the farming game tutorial by RapidVectors on YouTube, which is a great tutorial. Trying very hard to understand state machines now, which is more difficult with my SAD brain fog etc. Slow and steady wins the race!
