This country is already too far gone into authoritarianism to think that the elected officials (most of them utterly spineless) can actually get it back.

Why do the countries who already have nuclear weapons get to decide whether other countries can have them? Also … someone explain to me how Iran having nuclear weapons is more dangerous than Trump or Putin both having them?

Name the country (in the modern political environment) most likely to interfere in another’s choice of government?
comment in response to post
Wah wah wah. I didn’t get a fair choice for my party so I’ll just abandon logic and let the autocrat fascists get elected so they can screw up my ability to ever have a choice again. Just fuck right fucking off!

Talk to me when an air stike sets it back to 2018, when the wise orange man nixed Obama’s Iran deal.

Truthfully, the new US Civiil War has already started. We can let future historians determine exactly when the actual “start date” was, but it is not coming; it’s here.

I’m pretty sure trump will graciously apologize for nixing the Iran Nuclear deal and admit this escalation is entirely his fault.

Only hindsight tells us when a civil war actually starts. No declaration is made and no press conferences are held to announce overt military declarations. My point? Honestly, it’s probably already started.

Every day america descends deeper and deeper into a dark place that they will likely never climb out of.

My 20 year old couch in my basement is “uncomfortable”. A trillion dollar economy that is collapsing because of utter corruption and incompetence is better described as “fucking catastrophic”.

And exactly what would the state do when the federal government chooses to blatantly ignore the law? Todays events cement my view that an ugly and bloody philosophical US civil war without clear geographical boundaries is inevitable. As a Canadian, I’ll just stay home and watch.

Other people who deserve healthcare; criminals, fraudulent draft-dodging presidents, ketomine-addicted billionaires and just plain dipshits and assholes.

I despise a lot of things about america but the one I might hate the most is the use of the term “illegals” to describe an actual human being who, despite their residential status, at a minimum, deserves respect and compassion. Not a childish label.

Yet he got elected. And there is no one to blame for that besides Canadian Voters.
comment in response to post
And yet… she will undoubtedly be re-elected…proving one again that the only thing worse than a Republican elected official are the american voters.
comment in response to post
America embarrassed themselves in Nov 2016 and again in Nov 2024. Instead of offering worthless trinkets for Canadians, the entire country needs to rethink their governing system and moral compass. Because, frankly, for some time, and in particular, right now, America Sucks.
comment in response to post
And yet Canadians voted for him. We Canadians need to stop thinking american voters are the only dumb voters.

I’m not in her riding/district. If I was I sure as heck would support not having the same person elected to two different political positions. This is not a personal attack. Just common sense. Pick a job and stay with that one.

I think he means “…. those that criticize the current president are over”

But you know….. Save the ostriches!

He’s a good player who, because of the spike in the Cap and the thin market will end up significantly “overpaid “” as compared to the past 5 years. Then again, so will practically every free agent in 2025.

Not sure I agree with you on this Bill. Privatized rural mail delivery would be very expensive and could become non existant.
comment in response to post
Residential home delivery (using super mailboxes when possible) every 2nd day (or even twice a week) is plenty. This is not the 20th century. Daily delivery no longer needed.

You know what else works? Voting. Also. Not voting for idiots.

Serious question. Who’s worse; Donald Trump OR the 40% of Americans who approve of his presidential performance to date?
comment in response to post
Because she is one of the worst interviewers in america…
comment in response to post
And yet millions of Americans keep electing Republicans…. Voting as if they don’t have a choice.
comment in response to post
Perhaps if you had been elected by the voters in Canada….
comment in response to post
Failing argument because American voters ARE, in fact, dumb. They willingly elected him.
comment in response to post
I agree. Also give Vassy credit for actually pressing him on issues / concerns he needs to address.
comment in response to post
Truthfully, if politicians and voters knew what they were doing, he’d be the recently elected premier of Ontario right now….

Correction. That should read “fucking stupid and/or nuts”.

Just once I’d like to see an interviewer actually listen to the answer and push back? Maybe .. “Canada’s rhetoric? As I recall they weren’t the country questioning a neighbour’s sovereignty or the one who accused the other of harbouring fentanyl distributors”

The only thing missing is the strongly worded letter from Chuck Schumer!

You are presuming that the current Republican administration will ever allow themselves a remote chance that they could be removed from power.

What’s another 30 days when Russia’s most recent invasion started a mere 3 (+) years ago? Why wait?

Talking to Secretary Noem you say? Hmm…Yet another reason to stay out of the US.

Caution: Never underestimate the stupidity of the american voter.

I’ll go one further. I’ll pay $1000 to watch him name any 4 books he’s actually read. (excluding those he “wrote” or are primarily pictures).

77 Million american voters sure do!

I hear Damien Kurek has a barn in the back he could rent for a few months..

That passage was absolutely the most striking section of Derozan’s book. It really doesn’t take much to be a good person .. just the willingness to put other’s first.

And just when I thought americans could not get stupider. ….
