I think G Gundam averages out to 7/10 in every friend circle I'm in but I am always the person that gasses it up the most, I think I've met one or two other people that feel so strongly about it

Q can do like near ToDs with the explosion super off of any mix up its really funny how that character is still probably just ok relative to the other shit going on in that game

Yeah. I have no idea where games will go in the future either tbh. I see a lot of people dooming pretty hard over this and it's really easy to get swallowed up in it. I think the industry will crash, but I have faith it'll recover, and it won't be AI that saves it

Like fuuuuck me man you're so close. Yes, there's a problem. No, the solution is not what people with money are trying to push on you. It'll never be that.

That said I'm not particularly worried about seeing it in the new Kirby game, but I'll have to actually look before I pick it up (if I even do) which is a god damn shame.

Like, this won't make the process more efficient. At best it imitates, but at worst it's even more maintenance for worse output! They've studied this in all sorts of other fields by now!!!!!

(I know this was Sakurai at HAL but, they're pretty closely interlocked at this point, and Nintendo at least has come full bore and said they're not planning on using AI anytime soon so, dunno!!)

Scaling down does threaten the money printing growth philosophy, but I've never looked at Nintendo as developers that ever really scaled up to ridiculous AAA output to begin with so I have no idea!

Things certainly DO have to change, but AI won't make it more productive. It tends to do the opposite on top of making the work look worse in the end......

yeah the general tone reads as very uneducated about what it is and what the response to it writ large with consumers is. I think it's just because it's the "new thing" it's just the example that comes to mind, a big shame no mention of scaling down was found though
comment in response to post
It's a really good identification of a problem (games have gotten too big for their own good) and then instead of scaling down, it's a swiiiing and a miss.

You really appreciate the Crash Bandicoot death animations when you're doing those levels designed to be evil as hell because it gives you a moment to laugh

FGs super super overcorrected and now we're playing games where we're swimming in buffer frames so like, pressure and everything feels really structured and basic. It's taken a lot of the fluidity out of decision making
comment in response to post
yeah I think the hard combos should have an edge that makes them matter. That was a thing in SF4 as well sometimes IIRC, some chars had really sweaty optimals for paltry improvements but others really gained a lot
comment in response to post
I think its really just the crazy amounts of buffer.

I think it heavily contributes to the optics that folks are "annoying" or unproductive, or mean, when it's just a big pitfall of the kind of things these sites used to aggressively boost.
comment in response to post
yeah it's a bit sad that the criticism that folks look to dunk way too much gets brought up a lot, but it never feels like online communities collectively address it or make a real effort to move away from it writ large
comment in response to post
Yeah it's definitely.....different. I think a lot of it is the userbase coming here from a really fractured and awful environment on top of the big migration that happened earlier. The pitfalls of social media are still so real....I mostly reconnected with twitter mutuals on here and it worked out

Curation tools that actually work are part of why I've enjoyed this site despite many criticisms I still have

Also, shoutouts to SNK's localization team.

Not that the world would ever do this, but ideally digital would be cheaper because even with server and download costs, it would still be less than producing a physical cartridge. But I know if they ever made Digital cheaper there'd be so much outrage right now, justifiably cuz of ownership
comment in response to post
Ownership is my only hesitation, if this was not such a hard thing to truly lock in across all storefronts I would be a staunch advocate of digital as the primary way and physical as a premium option.

I cannot wait to play this
