now is the time for a Fallout property about being a mid-level bureaucrat in an established NCR who goes around looking in to Weird Pre-Apocalypse Stuff and talking vault dwellers and wilderness lunatics into working with civilization

Conclusion:
This is what I've used to maximize successes for first-come-first-serve hotel bookings.
This can't cover every possible scenario, but works for me.
If you've got tips, please share them! 😎

Other info:
A. Some hotel websites will be really slow or unresponsive registration day.
(The bigger conventions usually don't have this problem, with multiple hotel chains.)
B. Selecting a specific hotel is *supposed* to save your spot a few minutes, so it can't be swiped.

Example:
1. The email arrives.
2. You click the hotel booking link.
3. Select desired hotel.
4. Select exact stay dates (Checkout is morning *after* selected dates.)
5. Autofill in name/address info.
6. Fill in payment info.
7. Click the Book/Submit/etc. button.

Tips 4/4
7. Close all CPU and NIC-intensive things like games, downloads, excess browser tabs, which cause latency. Antivirus should stay ON.
8. Make sure your PC clock is accurate, with correct timezone and sync on. Too far off and sites won't work.

Tips 3/4
5. Open your email in another tab, freshly 5 minutes before hotel reg open. Watch for the reg email, check Junk.
(Opening freshly prevents email tab from timing out, and not updating.)
6. Have your credit card info memorized, or in front of you.

Tips 2/4
3. Use a desktop PC web browser for fastest site navigation. Every second counts.
4. Make sure your web browser's autofill feature is set up (name, address, etc.) as filling in form fields wastes precious time.

Exactly! We need to have people with the skills and temperament that power is comfortable negotiating with but we also need the numbers, energy, and anger that will make power feel the need to negotiate.
