5pm Thursday, squally showers and relatively warm and humid. Cat 2 TC Alfred stalling, looping and re-energising. Family in Brisbane report an eerie calm. Phone keeps pinging with weather warnings like a pinball machine. Pretty sure all prep’s been made from Caloundra to Byron Bay.

TC Alfred approx’ 350klm from Brisbane and heading in that general direction. We are roughly 300klm from Brisbane to the south. It’s getting difficult to stand in the gusts. Landfall in the wee hours of Friday.

Getting close to work day’s end and TC Alfred still 600klm off the coast, spinning in squalls but now the sun is out. We prepare, we wait and we look after each other. Touchdown still predicted Thurs evening in downtown Brisbane.

Waiting for Cyclone Alfred to arrive(Thursday) We should be ok with respect to wind. Family in Brisbane in the direct path. They are well prepared and in good spirits. Occasional squalls here at 6am. Backup diesel generator fuelled and tested at work. Not many taking 160kph(100mph) winds lightly.

TC Alfred heading our general way some time around the middle of next week. We are north coast NSW. Landfall expected on the southern end of STH East Queensland coast. Will welcome rain, up to a point. Lismore friends nervous - still recovering from 2022 catastrophic flood.
