My wife has an irrational hatred of eating noises and makes a huge deal out of even the slightest sound I make when eating, so whenever I'm alone I'll choose the noisiest thing I can find and eat it in the noisiest way possible as a way of standing up to her behind her back.

Fact check: it is not possible to lend someone your ears, even if they are friends or countrymen. You would not be able to re-attach your ears after you removed them, particularly using 1st-century-BC technology, so you would be losing them permanently, not lending them.
