From a FOIA perspective, "the entire federal workforce should write down and email what they did last week" is extremely funny

And done with the Kindle backup! It took 2 hours and 19 minutes to back up 678 ebooks. Now I just need to figure out how to keep track of them all. I've been using Libib for books/DVDs/BDs/comic books, but they don't have an ebook option. 1/2

Apparently on September 5, 2020, Comixology did a promotion where tons of Black Panther comics were free to download. I think they make up about 1/3 of my Kindle library.

It's taken me about an hour, but I've backed up 275 books from my Amazon account to my laptop. 403 more books to go...

I found this one a few weeks ago! The window film was covered in fingerprints and smears. And the pink wrap was all manky at the panel edges.

Would subscribe as both an Auntie and as a general user.

This whole thread is so well articulated, but this is the perfect answer for when anyone ever asks me what the point was in my getting a BS in History. I ended up in IT and those same skills serve me well on a daily basis.

Decided to log in and start backing up my Kindle due to "policy changes". Some stats: 660 ebooks, first purchase was March 31, 2013. Yes, I'm still using the same Kindle Paperwhite. Her battery is starting to not hold as much of a charge, but she's a truly excellent companion.

Imma need Quark to get on this, ASAP.

Yes. On day 1, she opened 4 air fresheners, all with different scents. She maintained that all semester. Also, she snored like a hibernating polar bear & would stop breathing. It made me anxious, so I mentioned the not breathing & recommended a Dr appt. She ignored me for the rest of the semester.

Mint Dr McGillicuddy was passed around in the bottle during one too many house parties while I was at university. I can't even smell it without cringing.

This reminds me of zombie apocalypse/prepper dudes. Sure, you've got a bunker & guns & beans, but what are you going to do for clothes? You can only scavenge for so many months or years until the fabric starts to rot. Who will do the laundry, the darning/patching, etc?

Discworld QOTD, from Guards! Guards!

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

The bouncy space maps were the ban of my existence but woo boy, do I miss playing this game.

I absolutely love this series and recommend it to everyone, but since November, I've only been able to read/listen to the first 3 books. All the books later in the series are too horrifyingly relevant.

I forgot to pre order this, but luckily my Friendly Local Book Shop was able to procure a copy and I am able to pick it up next week!

That's been my biggest complaint about the post Enterprise seasons. If I don't get to know the characters via "filler" episodes, then how am I supposed to care about them during the high stakes episodes?

My profound insight from visiting Japan for 2 weeks is that they are top tier in the convenience store game.

I am suddenly reminded of when I was living in Hove & working at a local cafe. The builders would gently tease me for how I said tomato when I asked if they wanted tinned or fresh.

Called both of my senators today. Left voicemails letting them know that I knew this would be on the docket for them soon & used @threnody.bsky.social 's scripts to explain to each why it was a bad idea. I'll be calling back once it gets closer to a vote to remind them I'm still paying attention.

SO you were a fan of Neil Gaiman and one or more of his works were really meaningful to your life. Now, that wasn't my case. I was a fan of who I thought he was, and some of his work very much so But he wasn't say, Pratchett for me or anything. SO. Here's some things for you that fan.

Mum is 75, always considered herself liberal. She's a reliable Democratic voter, volunteers w/ League of Women Voters, goes to protests for social justice causes. She visited & lived in South Africa during the end of Apartheid, worked in an integrated restaurant. She's not perfect but she tries.

Add in NIN and A Perfect Circle, and this well reflects my playlist last week.

Whatcha doing, Build A Bear?

Some weird looking birds absolutely emptied the feeder that I had filled that morning with sunflower seeds.

I guess it's good that I don't have a lot of plans this weekend. I'm going old school, setting up my own blog, sharing out the link to folks, and then closing up all of my Meta accounts first thing Monday morning. Let's be honest, all I used FB for last year was posting about voting & elections 1/2

It’s amazing how Mark Zuckerberg looked at the mass exodus from Elon’s Twitter in large part *because* its now become 95% deranged hate speech, and went “we’ve gotta allow more deranged hate speech on our platforms” Good luck with that, you dead-eyed ghoul.

You know the rules!

Back in the office today for the first time in 5 years ish, and not by choice. Someone just sat on the facing cube wall and is already sneezing and snerkling like crazy. Glad I came prepared with extra masks.... Ugh.

Just got stabbed with polio vax 1 of 3! Mum isn't an anti-vaxxer, but my vaccine record is incomplete & only shows 1 out of the series. We haven't been able to find any medical records from the mid 80s, so I figured it was better to update all the vaccines that are "missing".

I made it!

Still trying to figure out what to track in my Hobonichi Techo with the My 100 pages and the 365 check off pages for 2025. Any suggestions from other Hobonichi users on Bluesky?
