Every one of these chuckle fucks is a firm believer in Wilhoit’s law, they all just think they are part of the “in-group” and are surprised when they discover that the “In group” only contains Trump.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Yes cover before.

At this point it is patriotic to cheat on your taxes. It’s not like there will be any IRS employees to check your return documents.

Why are we taking about this 6 piece chicken McNobody again?

I’ve gotten that one too. From what I gather, the errors and obviousness are intentional. They want to weed out anyone that has a couple of brain cells to rub together so they can fleece the real dolts.

Nothing about the dynamics of impeachment have changed since then.
comment in response to post
Third time’s a charm? The political dynamics are what they are and Congress won’t convict Trump without overwhelming support either. Defeatism serves no one.
comment in response to post
Congress has already impeached Trump twice, but don’t let that get in the way of your defeatism. How about you get off social media and crawl in a hole.

GA floor tickets for moe. in NJ next week are $32.50, so deals still exist.
comment in response to post
Congress won’t impeach Trump unless there is overwhelming support for it and they believe that they will be voted out of office (or worse) if they don’t. Bernie is absolutely correct here. No one is coming to save us.

Sure, I hope it’s a good show and you enjoy it. It’s not a bad trek if you live in the city. I’m not schlepping into Queens from NJ on a Tuesday in July just to see Phish. I’m much more likely to go to Saratoga the following weekend.
comment in response to post
That’s not a great venue even on a Weekend, on a Tue-Wed it’s going to be a brutal mess. Hard pass.

I got a text that my office was closed today about 10 min into my drive to work. Now I’m working from home in my professional clothes and it feels very strange.

Frasco shows are always a party. I think of them as if they were the band at the end of every great 80’s movie.

Average labor rate for mechanics is about $150 an hour. Remember, that rate includes shop costs.
comment in response to post
For comparison I just bought 2 VIP tickets to see Subtronics at Brooklyn Mirage for $300, so shows can be seen at reasonable prices.

He looks like Destro before he got his head chromed.
comment in response to post
Seriously considering it, but we’re going to Andy Frasco/Mihali the following night, and I’m not sure I have that kind of stamina anymore.

Welcome to late stage capitalism. Popular acts are expensive. I was looking at floor tickets for a moe. show in NJ for $30 and was thinking I might have to go at that price.
comment in response to post
Upper deck is cheaper, but I’m not going to MSG on a Tuesday or Wednesday at any price.

The only obvious answer.

PPP is a mediocre jam band, but their metal inflected stuff is pretty good. This poster really captures that vibe.
comment in response to post
These are great and it doesn’t even include any of the Van Hagar bangers. I was just the right age for 5150.

It’s ok to get old and out of touch, it’s not ok to screech about it. Not everything needs to be about your particular bubble and artists shouldn’t pander to a common denominator. I’m not a hip hop fan and even I knew what Kendrick was up to and saw the strong symbolism in the halftime show.

Even in 1992 I was smart enough to stay away from SoCo.

At that price, can you afford not to go?

I just bring my younger woman wife to shows and flirt with her there.

This is true. I could have just let it go on by, but I dislike pointless negativism and here we are. 🤷‍♂️

I guess it’s great that you have an opinion, but I’m not sure why you thought anyone needed to hear it.

I don’t think of myself as a Deadhead, (my taste is too broad for that) but I have seen them with Jerry and every iteration post Jerry and I was pretty impressed with Dead and Co. when I saw them. Don’t really understand the hate for John Mayer, but I gather he’d evolved a lot by the time I saw him.
comment in response to post
Fair point. I don’t keep track of what bands people are into online. All I can say is that every Deadhead I know in real life has never given a passing thought to Phish and is quite happy endlessly listening to the GD catalog. To each their own.
comment in response to post
Honestly, “In the Dark” (1987) is a pretty good Dead album so I’m not sure I agree with you there, even if Jerry’s skills were really degrading by the 90’s. I understand why Phish was annoyed by the comparisons to the Dead, but most Deadheads of my acquaintance don’t think about Phish at all.
comment in response to post
I’m sure they have the musical chops to cover Rush or Yes and would be curious to see them try it, but Trey can’t really pull off the vocals for either. (For very different reasons)
comment in response to post
I don’t know Zappa well, but I can say that for me, the Yes influences on Phish are fairly obvious. Comparisons to the Dead aren’t that useful. Phish is like a great cult classic movie, the Grateful Dead managed to be both counter cultural and fully mainstream in ways Phish will never be.
comment in response to post
I’m only a casual fan that’s seen Phish about 10 times, but I think the overall point is correct. The irony is that I actually liked the quoted lyric, so it’s extra funny that it wasn’t even written by them.

Shut your pie holes you fucking kapos.
comment in response to post
What makes Yes songs work is that Jon’s voice functions as another instrument in perfect sync with the sound/vibe of the band. The fact that the lyrics can be pretty impenetrable is very secondary to that. Trey has said they take inspiration from Yes, but doesn’t really manage to get to that level.
comment in response to post
I’m not sure what it says about me that I heard that in Jon Anderson’s voice.
comment in response to post
Yeah, the songwriting (and lyrics) are the weakest aspect of Phish IMO. Having said that have you read the lyrics to any Yes songs? They have an almost Dadaist lack of coherence.
comment in response to post
I’m in bed by 10:00 EST these days so 12:30 is like a foreign country to me now.

For some of us, this comment is also true for Phish. [ducks]

Driving a newish Maserati is a giant tell that the person is trying too hard. There are plenty of respectable mid life crisis cars and Maserati makes none of them.

Just watched the game in my local NJ LFC supporters bar. Can’t remember the last time I had a beer before noon.
