I've been toying around with a simple sidescroller procedural generation. My current implementation works already infinitely and efficiently. Generation is done on threads which ensure pretty stable FPS, thanks to BetterTerrain plugin. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Unfortunately there are issues with the terrains (autotiles) on Godot. But there is an addon named BetterTerrain which integrates nicely into the tilemap model of Godot, and offers a quick and precise algorithm for placing terrains. Great solution! github.com/Portponky/be... #Godot #Terrain

I tried another game engine: Orx Orx is written in C++ which is also used for the game logic, and config files for data. A large part of game mechanism is put in the config files. There is hot reloading, you can even change config data dynamically in memory at runtime. orx-project.org
