Ultimately, JGT can be better, and people have proved it. But it still feels like people are only trying to develop it from square one.

* KeeLee Dies at the End is a genuinely chilling take on the broader issue of JGT, of the societal (and maybe supernatural?) forces that keep it alive even beyond its leadership.
* We can't plan out our lives, or can we? provides a good insight into how JGT affects the loved ones of its victims.

scenes actions she's taking to mitigate JGT's harm?
Admittedly, there's some directions taken I quite like.
* 6679 is an interesting take on how JGT is exploited by outsiders for cynical purposes. It's short, but it shows the potential of the group to interact with the broader anomalous world.

for a character study.
Jess is the biggest victim of this. Given her dynamic with the group, she has the potential to be one of its most interesting characters. Even so, hardly anyone (myself included) has done something with her. How does she justify what she does to herself? Are there behind-the-

Another big thing is that a lot of the works feel formulaic. JGT releases some memetic hazard, we get chat logs about it, someone tries to escape. There's not much on the interpersonal workings of the group, or a lot of interiority for most characters. Even a brainwashed character has good potential

I'm not going to say it's symptomatic of anything; nobody has to use my weirdo fascist sexpest villains. But the characters most used in a GoI are what define it. Think about GAW without Jude, JJ, Esther, or bones, and tell me whether you think you'd have the same group. We need more recurring chars

There's another part of me that wonders if my disappointment isn't just sour grapes over Theresa and Madeleine (outside of some very talented artists) being ignored.
At the same time, like... Madeleine and Theresa were 100% intended to demonstrate the link between tradfems, racism, and transphobia.

It's one part of the reason I feel like readers have latched onto the idea that JGT is a "TERF GoI", rather than a tradfem one. I guess another part of it is that the only recurring characters people seem to care about are the trans dude, his shitty sister, and KeeLee.

a bunch of interesting stories.
To paraphrase that one TPUSA failed actor: "if trans people are who they say they are, everything conservatives believe is a myth." The fact that JGT isn't frothing at the mouth about the most targeted group of trans people is... peculiar.

Any transfem could tell you that they've experienced particular forms of misogyny even before coming out, and sometimes before cracking their egg. At the deepest level, every transphobe knows trans women are women; their disgust is constructed. Shutting them out of JGT means missing out on

From a storytelling perspective, JGT being chromosome-locked is something that destroys a ton of storytelling potential, in addition to operating on a weirdly cissexist level. Asking how a computer ghost detects chromosomes would be an easy critique, but I'd argue it's an out-of-universe issue.

So maybe don't go around telling people that their self-image is wrong and that you care more about their physical anatomy than anything else. When the rabbis ostracized R. Eliezer, 1/3 of the world's crops failed. Imagine if they'd misgendered him!
