I've recently discovered that salty liquorice is really good

Been working on a project, it shows what data you are transmitting to hosts listed as Ad brokers, Trackers and pretty much anything a ad blocker would block. You connect to a wifi access point and it sniffs the packet metadata to show you what you are leaking. [Has sound[

I tried Buldak noodles for the first time since I heard they were spicy and good, although I'm not much of a fan of spicy food. I made the mistake of using all of the sauce provided and damn RIP my tongue.

Avoided jury duty again by not being a citizen

I grew up in Canada but have lived in the States for so long now that when I visit Canada and overhear conversations, the accent sounds so "folksy" to me. 😆 At least the Alberta accent sounds that way to me. I think the Toronto accent or Vancouver is less so.

I only just learned that Century Ballroom is closing next year. So sad. I have so many great memories there, although I haven't been to a dance since before the pandemic. Ugh, now I'll definitely have to go before it closes down for good. #seattle

Re-listening to the NETLORE podcast episode on Ken Penders and his Knuckles the Echidna comic lore. Hearing the "First they came for..." holocaust poem in the context of the Knuckles universe is insane and just absurdly hilarious. Absolutely mad stuff.

Funny how "the algorithm" works. I started watching a bunch of *Korean* puppy videos on YouTube and now it's regularly recommending puppy videos specifically in Korean even though there's generally no speech in these vids.

Turned off both Google and Apple search ads for now as I realized it was barely making a dent on daily purchases of my apps. I'll def need to update the ad copy, etc., since the clicks I was getting were non-paying in the end.

I started rewriting my flashcard app Fresh Cards about 3 months ago and I'm still not done. Had to rework core aspects of it to support a new set of features and it's gonna be great, but it's been a ton of work. Here's the current version if you are interested: www.freshcardsapp.com #macapps

I posted my notes journal app, Minders, to Product Hunt and it seems to be doing reasonably well there. Give it an upvote if you're on that site: www.producthunt.com/posts/minders

I love getting customer feedback #indiedev

I think Product Hunt is overhyped in the indiehackers space, but it's still totally worth it to post there. I spent a day crafting marketing copy and screenshots for one of my apps and about a week later, I've seen someone blog about it and another post it to their newsletter. #buildinpublic

Minders, my note-taking and journaling app that looks like a social media feed, was updated today. This update features Markdown support and post pinning. More info here: blog.ussherpress.com/2024/03/14/m... #mac #ios #apps

Announcing some cool new features I'm adding to my flashcard app, Fresh Cards blog.ussherpress.com/2024/03/03/f... #languagelearning #education

"live sports ... espn plus originals ... the exclusive home of the complete thirty for thirty library ... " repeated forever and ever

I’m finally reading Amusing Ourselves to Death after hearing about it all the time. The first chapter is already resonating with my view of the world. We live in a world of symbols and the more we interact with machines, the more those symbols change our view of the world and of reality itself.

Proud of myself. Neighbors down the street had a little house party (left a flyer on my porch), and I went to it tonight, though I've never really met them before. Wish I had met more other neighbors, though. It was mostly friends of the hosts or friends of their kids, but still.

One crazy feature I was working on just for fun is "red string", a way to turn your index cards into a conspiracy board. :)

The latest version of my index cards app, Card Buddy, is out now, and has a ton of improvements: blog.ussherpress.com/2023/12/11/c...

Cleaning up the kitchen as I'm cooking instead of after I'm all done really makes me feel like an adult.

A great little Thanksgiving treat: I submitted my iOS app this evening for review by Apple and got it reviewed and approved right away. Minders, a micro journaling app, is now available on iOS. Happy Thanksgiving! apps.apple.com/us/app/minde...

An update to my micro-journaling app is now out in the Mac App Store. apps.apple.com/us/app/minde...

My journaling app for the extremely online is now available in the Mac App Store! 🎊 Install it today. Learn more here: minders.ussherpress.com

The Adriatic Sea has a near 5-star rating. Well done, Adriatic Sea. Keep it up! 👏

Just put up a web page for this Solo Media app I keep going on about. I'm describing it as a journaling app for the extremely online. Use the app as a personal feed of your thoughts, inspirations, images, links, and more. solomedia.ussherpress.com

Sometimes I think software developers are way more interested in the process of software development than actually, y'know, shipping things. Ideals and best practices are good to learn about, but they should be secondary to actually building and shipping things, which is the best way to learn imho

Exciting times! My "journaling for the extremely online" app, Solo Media is getting close to its first beta. I'm working on polishing the Mac version in the next few days so I can get some folks to beta test it. #macdev #indiedev

Hate the modern trend of non-existent/poor service and default 20% tip on the machine
