Part of the plan to get the cuts through, and initiate the RIFs

And because people are irate about the non essential vacation people guess who was prioritized for RIFs. The non-essential personnel. The cuts are not discussed in the right wing communication nerve synapses as they focus on the people getting something for “free” @joshtpm.bsky.social

In the reconciliation they cut all the agencies to the levels where all the homework was done by the agencies for the RIF plans by the EO. Ostensibly there will be some takes and outs but the 1-n list is generated. Budget passes. Tax cuts realized. RIFs start.

After some pain and suffering senate agrees to house resolution voila reconciliation is unlock; people are pissed at democrats and the lazy federal works and everyone non essential who is getting back pay

No way a CR happens government shuts down and the dial gets turned up to 12 that the democrats don’t want to pass a clean CR to blame them. Meanwhile non essential government people get home.. watch the rhetoric about how government people will get back pay for a vacation

House leadership says they want to pass a clean CR but they don’t really want to; and they know even within the Republican Party the hawks want cuts. Democrats want to put in things to constrain executive power. Non starter.

Unusual to have this related verbally w/o paper trail for sure. Needs to be more details to actually say this is a crime. Congress appropriated funding for an upgrade, doesn’t prescribe who/how etc a comptroller would see the budget saying there is $8B for upgrades and a KO would be able to obligate
