Yes, back then, we had a scattershot list of websites and web forums we liked to check on, and we didn't spend that much time on any of them Modern platforms, however, want us to never log off; ad revenue incentivized the creation of algorithm-based timelines Web 2.0 didn't have to end up this way

Light key touches will help with preventing hyper-extension injuries. (i.e, swelling of the finger joints.) You can type for longer without pain, and game longer too 💙

This video also reflects on the exhaustive laundry list of reasons why I don't use TikTok, avoid Facebook, removed Twitter from my life, and dislike / report all YouTube shorts that the platform forcefully pushes my way. I still love the Internet, but not on the terms of these big media platforms.
comment in response to post
Oh, that would make me look down at the keyboard too often. I'm used to rarely looking away from the screen while typing That said, your method is still faster than typing on a phone, lol

I'm a very social person, and I jump at the chance to shop on a rainy day! I don't like waiting in line while someone who should be at a bulk store rings up 90+ items. Or worse, a whiny karen holds up the line to refund one $7 item! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Fewer exhausting people are in shops on rainy days 💙

Would you have preferred the other suggestion I had in mind?

I have a suggestion! 💛

MVG has worked for LimitedRun before. He may not want to burn that bridge As far as we consumers are concerned, he should do it. But this is an industry he still works in. He has to speak tactfully, or risk closing doors of opportunity for work from other companies. We shouldn't pressure a response

Now that the dust is settling from this fiasco- Yes, I was very disappointed to pay the premium price for a repro cobbled together with recycled parts, that was then likely flashed with the debug/rw pins that are still on the board. I have $15 GBA repros from eBay that looked better than this, lol
comment in response to post
The worst the cart could do is brick itself and fail to boot, whenever its components fail. I have my doubts about the lifespans of these obviously recycled parts; it won't be the same as a completely fresh set of chips.

I don't have a scanner at the moment, but when I do, I intend to scan Risky's Revolution's manual, as well as Freedom Planet 1's. No one else seems to care to upload these manuals, they're nicely made like the good old days.
comment in response to post
The safest way is to use a cart dumping tool, but this cartridge won't harm your system. We're all just mad we paid a premium for a lesser-quality repro cart. I'm willing to bet that a better quality, cheaper repro will turn up on eBay within the week, lol

It better be now. I just disabled replies on all of those posts. I was ready to move on since yesterday. The peanut gallery needs to shut the hell up! I've been on the Internet for 20+ years, I have no more patience for it.

Y'all, I really want to get back to work on games with my limited free time, and not moderating this thread's replies when I should be sleeping for my next shift. To every good bean who shared their concerns or cleared the air with information on GBA dev, thank you. Everyone else, get off my lawn!
comment in response to post
If people are dunking, is their opinion in good faith? I have been responding here and to quote posts from good people with useful information. Only blocked 3 thus far! They were the type to trip over themselves at the chance to be smug or mean without reading first. My patience is wasted on them.
comment in response to post
There's always the chance yours will be okay. We don't know how many of these look bad yet; only 4 others like mine reporter thus far. Best of luck ripping with gbaxxdumper, I hope it works
comment in response to post
I'm done posting about all this. My launch day rant resulted in an obvious damage control statement from the manufacturer. Turns out it was Retro-Bit Gaming, and they are okay with shipping us premium-priced carts with dirty beat up components. Not buying from them again! bsky.app/profile/retr...
comment in response to post
That's odd, and it can't be dismissed as the cart shifting inside the slot. (Like it can hanging partially outside the DS Lite) The GBA's cart slot is a precisely snug space most repros can't fit into cleanly It might be worth reproducing the crash in an emulator. This could be on the game's end
comment in response to post
Yes, I think it's that app. I felt like it would take a long afternoon to setup the wireless part correctly, between the Wii and DS. I couldn't be bothered without a guarantee it would work. A dedicated dumping device will work, fortunately. Homebrew is 50/50 (Godmode9i is reported to rip this ROM)
comment in response to post
Let's hope the postal system still gets the package to you, and that your cart is in better condition than the one I have. Not all of them will look as bad as mine. It's the low quality control that gets me; it shouldn't be like this.
comment in response to post
"Cosmetic" damage is still damage! We don't pay full price for damaged goods. Never buying from y'all or LimitedRun again. This response is so dismissive.
comment in response to post
Hopefully your cart is in better shape than mine. We don't know the extent of this quality control issue yet, but it's not the kind of worry one should have when receiving a game you paid this much for, omg
comment in response to post
Emulation of the Mega Drive, with proper frame-pacing and no stutters/crackles, is surprisingly hard to do right. But LimitedRun has the resources to achieve better than that! The only reason Shantae GBC has a good emulator on Switch is because Modern Vintage Gamer was hired to do it.
comment in response to post
LimitedRun charged us $60 to $80 for a $20 Alexipress bootleg quality cart, and some of the carts' chips look like they hit the concrete floor a few times, lol WayForward still shipped a great game, though! It's worth playing and preserving
comment in response to post
I shared the link via a quote post, as well! It's worth passing around Support the digital release, but also, fuck LimitedRun, lol

I like people being able to express their concerns with me. The message is simply a warning to sweaty shills they will be bonked on-sight. I know when someone is pretending to be a moron where it benefits them I am kind of tired of stupid people, though. Never meant for this post to blow up, omg
comment in response to post
Anyone who misses this and yells how wrong I am anyway will get blocked Babysitting adult children online is not my job. Especially not LRG shills playing damage control for them. I can smell the ejaculate on your keyboard across the fucking ocean Risky's Revolution is fun, by the way, go play it!

I'm an indie dev and work 12-hour shifts at a hospital. I don't have time for people who don't read! What we learned: • No header is normal for cart games, it's just funny • FPGA is okay for batteries • Homebrew is dodgy, get a real dumper • My cart is safe, but not up to the quality I paid for
comment in response to post
And hopefully WayForward will get more of your money that way. 💙 This should be their best week in a long while, but, my little launch day rant broke containment and now here we are 💔
comment in response to post
As the dust settles, my concern has refined to how unknowable the lifespan of this cart is? What works fine now might not 5 years later; I don't feel as good about this cart as I do the Shantae GBC reprint. Oh, the pain of a day-one rant breaking containment, but I learned a lot about the GBA, lol
comment in response to post
There's still a chance your cart will be in better shape. Maybe get a hair thin strip of silicone for the top of the PCB, so the pins for the FPGA chip don't get bent after so many drops, etc. My hope is that I got a dirty cart that represents ~5% of the batch. We'll see as more people open theirs.
comment in response to post
If you read the thread, you would see that things were clarified and we all moved on. Read before you dunk on people for social media likes.
comment in response to post
Thanks to clarification by others in the thread, this is normal for retail roms What isn't normal is the dirty chips, and putting the pins on one chip right at the edge of the board. (i.e, great way to bend some pins with normal use or sufficient jostling!) The cart is also a dangerously tight fit
comment in response to post
Yes, the power consumption on the Gameboy's batteries. But others in the thread have clarified that FPGA isn't any worse than a normal chip. It's the dirty condition of the chip itself that's concerning.
comment in response to post
A friend linked it to me a while ago. This whole thing has prompted me to give it watch now, lol
comment in response to post
It's normal for every chip to not be exactly the same ones. They all perform the same job, ideally to same quality too. The galling part is LRG charged us $60 for old chips that may or may not look like they were scraped off the concrete floor, lol. You got a cleaner luck of the draw than I did.
comment in response to post
Oh, I agree! I didn't mean to send any of them into a panic. This is LRG's fault, not their own. But maybe they should hit up FanGamer next time! 💔
comment in response to post
In the past their Shantae GBC reprint was okay, so I assumed this would be too. (For all the things LRG does wrong and proudly so.) But not this time. They're not getting anymore of my money
comment in response to post
I have been looking for better ways to backup ROMs after all this. Homebrew apps have been 50/50 for edge cases like this I want to look into this one now 💙
comment in response to post
What concerns me is that the condition of each chip is bad enough that we can't feel comfortable about their long-term lifespan. What seems fine now might not work 5 years from now. And yes, I want to see an expert with the right tools look at it too. We need more data.
comment in response to post
Oh, I didn't finish my first playthrough of Seven Sirens. The gameplay seemed like a marked improvement for animal transformations, but the story was so bad it hurts. 💔 But I still think you're right. We'll see how I feel after a second playthrough. My friends and I are having a laugh so far.
comment in response to post
I would just find the ROM and play it on an Everdrive or a homebrew enabled 3DS, until the digital release is available. (WayForward deserves the money!) We don't pay premium price for scraped up aftermarket chips with an unknowable lifespan Perhaps a better repro cart will appear on eBay soon, lol
comment in response to post
Don't you just love paying $80 for a new game and all the chips in it look like they hit the concrete floor multiple times, and were kept in a dirty drawer for years! 💔
