Incredibly useful thread (closing replies so it doesn't fracture the responses, keep them to the original thread!)

ANARCHY 😭

Excellent use of alt text.

Thank you @rachloudriscoll.bsky.social and @cbcreative.bsky.social for this month's writing task, and for my shout-out! Having finished re-reading The Weirdstone of Brisingamen yesterday, I think it definitely influenced my scene 🤭

For #WorldBookDay here's what I'm currently reading. Invisible Women is audio in the car, Alan Garner is while waiting for and on the bus, but I finished it today and Ursula is next. The Illiad and Dorothy Dunnett are my weekend lie in treats.

This is beautiful. I'm getting flashbacks to The Night of the Red Horse by Patricia Leitch and the horse goddess Epona.

Ouch.

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

Look here, you calcareous asshole, who asked you anyway?

Again, Jews were less than 1% of the German population in 1933.

Perfection.

I'll definitely be listening to this.

Starting March with a rare sunny picture of glowing Old Man's Beard.

For the onset of March, a few not so mad ancient Greek hares.

The compost cat glowing in the sunshine

This is a beautiful obituary and explains Hackman's quiet, compelling, talented charisma so well.

This is beautifully done. Thank you.

Someone described using the uk arts for generative ai as fracking the creative industries. And yes. It is.

This thread is a good rebuttal for anyone praising ai .... I particularly love the France is Bacon explanations

Some of you have never been chased around a mysterious island community by a giant wobbling white sphere and it really fucking shows

Great arguments against ai - and brief and clear which I often struggle with! Thank you.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism. We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

Btw, the Hayes code which stated that "throughout the presentation, evil and good are never confused and that evil is always recognized clearly as evil” was in full swing when Gone With the Wind premiered, if you wonder how these kind of things turn out.

i'd love to have a summary of my life include someone "forgetting the hyena" because imagine living a life where someone could FORGET THE HYENA
