Again, Jews were less than 1% of the German population in 1933.

Even one of the takes expressing revulsion at the treatment of trans people also says that the administration's policies aren't consequential because they affect a small population. Would anyone say the same about the explicit persecution of an ethnic or religious minority? This is extraordinary.

Maybe a regime that fragile doesn't deserve to survive.
That's almost as many people as the metro area of the Twin Cities. 600,000 people would be left in the Seattle area if we killed 3.4 million people there. No one would be left in & around Denver or Baltimore or St. Louis or Charlotte or Orlando ...
Just to keep these numbers in perspective.
These tactics are no accident.
SJSU Political Science, good 20th century historian, I have never seen this before.
Trans people were the first to be sent to concentration camps by the nazis
Followed by the attack on the Magnus Hirshfield Clinic & the book burning that is shown in documentaries
All of those books related to gender affirming healthcare
I'd call it a draw, the Nazis hated trans people and communists equally.
In 2024, trans people were between 0.3% and 1% of the US population (0.7% is right in the middle).
Presidents Trump & Musk are both fans of Hitler who found that 0.7% is just the right size for propaganda targeting & othering.
The logic of these NYT opinion writers is atrocious.
If the statement sounds horrible (genocidal?) with the word "Jews" in it, then guess what?
IT IS!
Trans people in the 2020s are the Jews of the 1930s.
And no pattern of oppression has ever stopped there.

Yikes!
MAGA needs to be asked two questions before any hope of acceptance into society:
1] How many times did you vote for the GOP?
2] How has your life gotten better under them, without hurting others?
Fat, bloody, Belgian bastards!

So MORE of them than there were of us. Not that it should matter.
I'm terrified nobody will care as I die.
That said, the voters are idiots and you can’t reason anyone out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into in the first place.
“In their book, “Why Civil Resistance Works: The Strategic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict“, Chenoweth and Stephan analyzed 323 political and social movements that challenged repressive regimes from 1900 to 2006.

It’s the argument of people looking for an excusr not to care.
History shows definitively that disregard for bigotry enables and legitimizes the raw hatred that leads to disregard for human life itself.
This is what the nyt has unleashed
