Unlike the orange felon who was convicted of 34 felonies, the man who was purposely deported to a deadly prison in El Salvador has no criminal convictions. The more you know.

Journalists quite often get emails written in exactly this style, often sent to scores of recipients on multiple publications, and the sadly reliable assumption is that the irate sender is miserable, paranoid and probably unwell.

Political and social - we must stop hate (free) speech online. Love the use of numptie but sadly she’s more dangerous. 👇

Toe curling, fuel and cash burning - awful.

Unsurprising...and makes the benefits of getting UK back into Europe's border-free market all the more obvious.... www.politico.eu/article/ever...

🚨🚨 WOW: UK is prepared to retain some regulatory alignment with the EU and accept #CJEU supervision over a deal to cut checks on imports of foods & agricultural products- in a significant a move on the promised EU-UK #reset five years after #Brexit.🧵 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

And this is what Starmer wants to link us to.

🤣👇

Medics killed as Israel attack hospital. The world must come together to demand an end to this genocidal slaughter. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Dr Johnny Ryan doesn’t hold back in emphasising the acute dangers the big US tech platforms pose to democracy in Europe. How the EU handles them may decide whether democracy and pluralism survive. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

This country is becoming unrecognizable. What we’re seeing is state-funded fear. We’ve warned people: keep filming, go live on social media so these moments are documented and shared. This wasn’t a case involving masked ICE agents—but that’s happening too.

Concern about a UK-US trade deal is that it is no such thing. It could actually be a US market access deal that undermines the UK's ability to tax and regulate effectively whilst driving a wedge between the UK economy and the EU. It's good to do trade deals but they have to be more than piecemeal.

The top 1% evade $163 billion in taxes per year — enough to end homelessness, hunger, and pay for universal childcare. 👆🏻 This is the crime wave we should be talking more about.

Oh humanity - the inanity of it. Mortifying.

Amazon, Meta, Alphabet, Netflix, Apple and Microsoft avoided almost $278bn in US corporation taxes over 10 years despite making a profit of $2.5tn. - It’s time to tax them properly in Europe. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Interesting. Two of the grievances in the Declaration of Independence condemned the Crown for denying legal protection, especially imprisonment without cause. “For depriving us, in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury.” “For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offenses.”

🤣

I would not have predicted that large universities would show more courage than either Big Law or corporate media. Good for them.

He’s threatening media companies who are critical of him. He’s talking about sending Americans to foreign prisons. He’s signing executive orders to investigate former staff members who spoke out against him. He’s defying the Supreme Court. Don’t you see what’s happening here?

"The economy is weaker. Exports are down. The British have lost their freedom to live, work and love across the continent. Promised benefits never materialised. Businesses struggle with red tape. Farmers and fishers feel betrayed. The Brexit experiment has failed. It’s time to ask the people again."

Harvard University statement: “The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government.”

@greenparty.org.uk have been calling for nationalisation of core services since before Reform were born. #steel #scunthorpe #nationalise #greenparty #BritishSteel

Turns out autocracy is bad for business đź‘€

There we go. Support this man.

🚨🚨"Golden Age of America": There is something very familiar with this insane nonsense rant by Trump reverting to the #brexiteer idea of "Sunlit Uplands", completely disconnected from reality with promises of more jobs, better and stronger economy. I place my safe bet here: ALL OF THIS WILL FAIL. 👇

Dear Decent Human Beings in the Military and Law Enforcement, If you are ordered to violate the Constitution by this president, please disobey. The millions who served, suffered, and died before you deserve your courage now.

Remember Fiona Hill? She’s now sounding the alarm again: “We’re definitely on a path toward full-on state repression. There’s no question about it. I’ve thought about this for an extraordinarily long time.” When Fiona speaks, we should all listen.

“Starmer must not trade away our food standards as part of tariff negotiations. We are as indignant about American animal welfare as JDVance seems to be about the control of anti-abortion demonstrations outside UK clinics” So many reasons to focus on the EU, not the US. Letter of the week The Week

Scary stuff.

Wow!

The 22nd Amendment says it plain: “No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice.” Bannon on Bill Maher, straight-up said Trump’s going for a 3rd term — and they’ve got a “team” working to circumvent the Constitution. They’re not joking. They’re plotting. Believe them.

Nigel Farage thinks it's OK for him to earn ÂŁ571,585 in six months from 'second jobs', but tells Laura Kuenssberg that public sector staff should not be allowed to work from home. #BBCLauraK

The president is saying that once the administration gets people outside our borders it can do anything to them—including torture and death—and they can’t be stopped or held accountable.

Bernie Sanders at Coachella.

Voters want Keir Starmer to focus on rebuilding trade ties with EU, poll reveals

Good way to see the current tariffs, as of literally today, is no tariffs on high value add manufactured goods marketed to middle and upper middle classes. Massive tariffs for cheap consumer items which amount to the biggest economic privilege of working class/middle class life in US.

Stephanie Ruhle, "Our allies are not rushing to partner with a US President who goes on TV saying they're all kissing my ass"

UK-US trade deal is a joke: minimal US concessions, whilst U.K. will be forced to shrink food standards, product rules, and digital services. Frontier Economics shows US tariffs = -0.7% GDP EU deal = +1.5% GDP Kiss Trump’s arse or rebuild prosperity with Europe? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Make it make sense

Uk can we take a lesson please…. 👏👏 Mark Carney

Exiling people beyond the protection of US law without due process is not only unconstitutional, it's a rejection of the entire American revolutionary project. Sending people "beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences" is one of the grievances enumerated in the Declaration of Independence.

@warren.senate.gov: "State attorneys general have the same opportunity to investigate, dig in, get what the facts are. So for example, Letitia James, the NY attorney general, which has jurisdiction over the stock market and the trading that happens in NY, might decide she would take a look at this."

It is very good question and one I’ve been asking for months. If there is an international agreement with El Salvador for these renditions, the Trump administration is legally required under the Case-Zablocki Act to share it with Congress. To my knowledge, they have not done so.
