I think it will be fine. If the can put this much work into creating a whole new DE, then the work on their distro will most likely be good. Maybe it will need a few updates to really feel like its cimparable.

You say they have to keep the masses busy, but then you say they are going to use AI to replace software engineers. Seems like it's a contradiction.

Okay I guess businesses remove code for fun

Chrun indicates you have pushed bad code, I am not sure how that is not meaningless. The thing that happened with cloudflare and caused everything to go down, was because of churn, bad code was pushed which caused everything to go down. Now that is increasing with the use of AI.

Of course there are bad programmers, but does AI make them better programmers? Or worse? They are making them faster at producing code, but I am not sure how much it is better, based on the the increase in code churn

Don't get me wrong, AI is impressive. It's amazing that it can do the things it can do.

Yeah, we can all speculate. AI is here to stay, and it will have an effect. To what extent? Who knows. CEOs invested in AI that preach it will replace software in 3 to 6 months, are just generating hype with investors. Their incentives are skewed towards generate money for their business.

I don't see how having to change code that was already written a good thing. VCs and customers aren't all programmers, to them it seems like magic, when an AI that scraps the web and makes another Todo app that's been recreated hundreds of times.

A structure of a building needs to be accurate, or it breaks apart.

Grphics design is not programming. With art you can have a range of diminsions, art styles, colours and still get the art to represent what you want. In programming, if you get something wrong, it increases security/data breaches, code complexity etc.

I feel as though these tools are good at convincing non experts in Software Engineering that they can replace software engineers at the moment. If software engineers can be replaced, then everything else can be automated too, as their jib is to replace the need of human involvement in a task

And I wouldn't believe that any serious company would actually be replacing their engineers because of AI. It makes you a faster coder, but it has also been shown that more bad code is being made, and has to be changed. arc.dev/talent-blog/...

5 years? Yeah I feel years ago Elon said that we should have it in the next few years. Tesla was also rated as the more dangerous car compared to others eu.statesman.com/story/news/s...

I feel like it's a hit or miss situation at the moment, there has been times when it has failed at doing the right thing. It will get better, until when it will replace engeers? 10 years? 100 years? We were supposed to have fully self driving cars some years ago, but they were just promises.

AI helps speed up certain aspects of development (or slow it down at times). Overall it won't be replaceing software engineers at the moment. AI needs to automate problem solving to do so, and not predict what collection of words you want from the internet to replace engineers.

One of the things about programmers, is that they are used to automate processes. If programmers are automated with AI, then everything is going to be automated. Then all jobs would cease to exist with some time. Even physical jobs, as all you need to ask the AI is to create an AI that can do so.

Universal Blue Aurora. I want to see what its like living with a container based solution, for the sake of stability. Been using it for a couple of months, so far, so good. It takes a little bit to get used to, but it's good to be open to new ideas.

You can use Linux and an application that is open source that respects your privacy. Although, it takes time getting used to a different OS.

Well you're just sharing your experience, and other people are sharing their experience. That's social media, if you didn't know? Next time try to have your reasoning in your initial post, if your upset about "non creators", suggesting their ideas. "Im just sharing my opinion" by a "non creator".
