Hard to pick a fave show. Deerhoof and múm are up there. I was not ready for Lizzo opening for Sleater-Kinney. Obv biased toward GR!DC showcases, too.

New Pornographers at 9:30 was the show that made me love rock concerts again. (V. short asthmatic with then-undiagnosed POTS; I used to wonder why I put myself through hell just to occasionally glimpse the bassist's fretting hand or whatever. Smoking bans were new, the balcony a revelation.)

FWIW, I really appreciated that one in particular. A gun in my home is MUCH more likely to harm me than protect me, for that and other reasons.

Earplugs at the ready, always and everywhere. Do it.

When I was a kid, abandoned to the circumstances I was born into, I learned it’s enough to do what you believe is right for as long as you can. The fantasy of being saved or becoming a savior burns up like dry leaves, but solid values pertaining to everyone’s humanity is creeping fire. It lasts.

ITT: a bunch of confused DC residents, including me. Now that I half-understand what's going on, I'm going to recommend adding Fritos to your next chili cheese burger, make it a Frito Pie burger. (This one is not a DC thing.)

Would it be nice if axe-con stepped up to the moment? Abso-fucking-lutely. But I'm not surprised; it's a lot to ask of conference organizers. These things are planned WELL in advance.

I agree but hostility toward disabled people isn't exactly new. What's new is the idea that we should be accommodated or even *gasp* centered. I'm getting a lot of good prof. dev. at axe-con I that can implement without management buy-in because I don't fully trust the solidarity of higher-ups.

(These are quotes from Laura's presentation, to be clear. I just wanted to include them all and hit a character limit)

Just gave this a listen! Was surprised to learn Upper GI Series isn't routine imaging for GERD. But I also have hEDS -- any connective tissue episodes in the archive? -- and (as it turns out) a hiatal hernia. Good times.
