In light of current world events (because everyone is affected here, not just the US), morale is again in short supply for all of us. Fortunately you know a morale officer. So, let’s get started. Right now, this very second as you’re reading this, relax your jaw. Good. /3

Keeping yourself in the fight involves taking care of yourself, and taking care of yourself involves ensuring that you remain as psychologically stable as possible. And that means making sure you have things that bring you joy, and not shitting all over things that bring other people joy.

Taking care of yourself is a radical act of resistance. You cannot spend all your time running at redline. Living a life with joy, comfort, and companionship is essential. It also makes you better at everything — but that's not why you should do it. Do it because you matter & your joy is important.

When we think about home cooked meals today, there's also a lot of moral baggage and socialized expectation—folks, cooking a meat, two veg, and a starch *every night* is a LOT of work. I think it's important to set those value judgments aside as rooted in privilege and really harmful stereotypes
