#10 Architecton. For a good chunk of this documentary I thought it was just going to be about how much the director liked rocks. I admired that, a weirdly pure subject matter. Striking visuals, good music. But then it ends with a really bland interview with an architect that soured me on it.

Felt pretty weird getting dressed this morning and not immediately taking a photo of my own torso. @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

Kinda poppy post-punk I guess but with really distinctive vocals and lo-fi keyboard bits. They remind me of Life Without Buildings on some songs if you were ever into them.

49. Dancer! Finally reached the end of my wardrobe, since I started with my oldest t-shirt it makes sense to end with the newest! Think these are maybe the most exciting band in the UK right now, excited to see them again in a couple of weeks! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

#9 Heart Eyes. Pretty fun rom-com / slasher mash-up, some good gags and solid gore. Not sure it'll stick in my head for long but a decent time at the cinema.

48. Martha! A final appearance from the band of many t-shirts, this is my favourite design that they've done. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

47. Grain Mother! A second appearance for these excellent locals, this time in short-sleeve form. You should go and listen to them. Yes, you: grainmother.bandcamp.com/track/3am #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

46. Illuminati Hotties! A third and final appearance from a band I love very much - awkwardly posed to also include a poster of the first album hanging in my "music room" where I should be working on new songs and not dicking around on here. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

#8 Companion. Excellently twisty, witty sci-fi thriller. Another one that got enough good word of mouth from friends that I felt I had to see it, and they were right. Excellent performance from Sophie Thatcher and I loved the soundtrack.

45. Radiator Hospital! Something Wild and Torch Song are both near-perfect albums IMO - missing this band when they toured the UK with Martha is one of my big musical regrets. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

44. Onsind! Incredible Durham folk-punk and yes, also half of Martha which means that approx. 40% of my clothing has these two people on it. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

Definitely getting there! But I still have a few good ones to get me into next week 😅

43. Colour Me Wednesday! Finally remembered to pick this one out on an actual Wednesday. Great band (especially the first album) and I'm a big Addams Family fan so I love the design! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

#7 September 5. Gripping TV-news thriller with some fantastic technical detail - love seeing old tech stuff like this. Good to see films can still be a tight 90ish minutes too. Hard to separate the 70s Israel / Palestine stuff from feelings on the current nightmare though.

42. Dream Phone! Crazy glitchcore / hyperpunkpop band from Oxford. So much fun live. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

41. Martha! Again again again! Some more complex back-print photography required here. I'm not a huge fan of the back-print t-shirt style to be honest. I do love Martha though, if that wasn't already very clear. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

40. The Boo Radleys! Saw the (mostly) reunited version of my first proper favourite band at a weird local festival in 2022 and got to meet Sice. Was a bit emotional. He was lovely! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

I'm not sure what "guitar skins" was supposed to say, but it definitely wasn't that.

#6 The Seed of the Sacred Fig. Almost three hours of Iranian political thrills! Documentary footage blended into the narrative packs a punch - great performances from the central family although I thought the final act wasn't quite as successful after it pivots into more conventional territory.

39. @fortitudevalley.bsky.social! Further adventures in cat-merch. Great band. Missed them TWICE last time they toured because I decided to have a nice week in with COVID instead. Hope they'll be back with new music soon! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

38. The Beths! Back for a second appearance, bought this one the second time I saw them, at the Brudenell. They were impressed by the "multi-tiered" nature of the venue which led to a mass chant of "multi-tiered!" Leeds is weird #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

It's been a while since I've been on the Wheat website but it has a ton of live recordings and radio sessions for free download! www.thiswheat.com/index2.shtml

Here's an 8 minute live version from my extensive rarity collection! mortom.org/music/wheat/...

The live recording I have is from Belgium. Not sure why Belgium gets all the fun...
comment in response to post
I think they did come to the UK but I never saw them alas 😔 I was on a yahoo groups mailing list in the early 2000s that shared some live recordings though at least!

Some of my favourite Wheat songs: Death Car youtu.be/xAM7JLifHGQ?... Don't I Hold You youtu.be/IPClKch4ABU?... Go Get The Cops youtu.be/Iidhv-w3SzY?...
comment in response to post
Don't I Hold You was my intro too, think I heard it on John Peel - it definitely made the festive 50 that year. Fantastic guitar solo!

"Summer" by Wheat is one of my favorite songs ever. It's 6:46 but could last an hour and it'd still be over too soon. youtu.be/L2SvDsE2Q80?...
comment in response to post
Hell yeah. Death Car from that album is also incredible!
comment in response to post
Still sounds absolutely incredible. Ironically since I last listened to this album I've been diagnosed coeliac so this is literally the only way I can enjoy wheat any more 🍞

36. Martha! Again! This time celebrating Rowdy Roddy Piper, who makes a memorable appearance in their song "Wrestlemania VIII". #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

35. Friendship! Great Philadelphia band, love their laid-back alt-country vibes and world-weary lyrics. Saw them in Manchester a couple of years ago and they were fantastic. #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

34. The Klittens! @theklittens.bsky.social - saw that they joined bluesky so what better time to wear their t-shirt? As ever, if you put a cat on your merch, I will buy it 😹 fantastic band, too! Seen them three times now and look forward to more! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

33. Haiku Salut! A second appearance for Derbyshire's finest folktronica Power-Trio. I could really use some creative inspiration today so hopefully wearing a lightbulb will help! #CNPTShirtChallenge2025 @carefulnowpromo.bsky.social

I am now yeah, I was in Derbyshire for years but driving over here all the time so I decided to move last year. Now I can go to gigs on the tram 🥳
comment in response to post
Ah it's great and just keeps on getting better! I went a few times in the early years but have only become a regular in the last few years. Hope you can make it sometime!
