Judge Reyes closes her opinion by personally thanking every servicemember and veteran. A nice touch that stands in stark contrast to the president’s assault on their rights.

Didn’t she submit a declaration to a court stating contrary facts?

I appreciate a lot of this, but I wish federal officials who have not been legally terminated would say so and then remain in their posts, rather than executing this shift to the past tense.

Breaking: A federal judge just blocked Trump’s order banning transgender Americans from serving in the military.

1/🧵 Judges across ideological lines are ruling against Trump at strikingly similar rates (84% liberal, 86% centrist, 82% conservative). This isn't partisan opposition to Trump—it's the judiciary functioning as intended by cutting across partisan lines to uphold the Constitution.

constitutional crisis cubed

Just so we’re all clear, the Supreme Court *expressly ruled* that the president cannot fire FTC commissioners without cause in 1935’s Humphrey’s Executor. Trump’s action here is brazenly illegal under any interpretation of the law as it stands. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

NEW: A Maryland federal judge says Elon Musk and DOGE likely violated the Constitution in their efforts to dismantle USAID. The judge ordered DOGE to restore the agency's functionality and blocked Trump from making further attempts to shut down the agency.

Elon Musk’s Starlink is now available across the White House campus. And while Starlink is donated, the fact that the internet service of the closest advisor to President Trump is installed in such a sensitive place is raising many questions. @rmac.bsky.social reports

for the trump administration even this few black people is a few too many

Judge Alsup is not amused by reports that people he ordered reinstated were put on admin leave. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

One point that seems to be getting lost—the US is paying El Salvador to incarcerate detainees for a year (like when the gov’t pays a private prison company). The US still controls their custody in that sense & courts should have at least some jurisdiction, as bizarre as this is.

I think it’s fair to assert that no Congress before the Trump era would have failed to investigate such cartoonish corruption.

Journalists should describe what Trump is doing as conceding. It's not that Ukraine is [being forced to] give up territory. It's that the US is offering concession after concession. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/17/u...

If the Supreme Court ultimately agrees with what the gov't is arguing today, that the President has broad Article II powers that would permit it to deport people & there can be no judicial review, then literally no one is safe.

If you're furious at Dems who are not fighting, help the Dems who are. We're going up against Elon Musk and the GOP machine in Wisconsin on April 1. Throw yourself into electing Susan Crawford and beating Brad Schimel—and you'll send a message to the whole country.

It’s extremely alarming that Trump openly defying a court order is being covered as “Trump decides to not follow it” and not “Trump illegally defies court.” Or in the Washington Post’s case, not even mentioned at all

Yeah, nope. Not how it works.

He doesn’t have this power and should be impeached for even saying this. Yes I know that won’t happen.

You don’t know who we just disappeared to El Salvador. Think about that.

I’m so tired of hearing Rubio & other rightwingers now claiming that if you’re on a green card you’re a ‘guest’ in this country. BS. You’re a lawful permanent resident. The clue is in the name. If someone is a permanent resident in your home, are they the same as the guests who come and go? Come on.

The Trump administration is laying the groundwork to round up and detain their political opponents. They’ve started with immigrants and non-citizens, but let’s be perfectly clear where this is headed. Dictators are afraid of their own people. Trump is trying to end free speech.

We don’t if they were gang members, only that Trump’s DOJ says they were. But they’ve had no trials. They are “accused.” They are “alleged” to be members of a gang that Trump has named. And now they are vanished. This is an actual nightmare and we should be up in arms.

I am tracking 3 separate cases where the government is violating court orders. The question now is whether judges find willfulness and hold officials in contempt. Democracy Docket members will receive my latest on this and more in their inboxes tomorrow. Join now. www.democracydocket.com/member-me/

This is outrageous. Judge Boasberg’s order went against government agencies which were in the US, and which were in direct contact with the plane. He must hold them in contempt of court.

Very important set of questions for everyone to focus on here. DOGE isn't just doing the destroying. It's also handing out all the govt contracts to its overseer and his friends. Some of this is (good) assumption below. But a lot of this has already happened.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced the Trump administration’s defiance of an explicit court order, deporting Venezuelans to a concentration camp in a third country, El Salvador—which also happens to violate a lot of really good international laws.

I strongly suspect this recent piece from Prof. David Knoll is about to be come extremely relevant and widely read. "Even a rogue marshal’s service, in other words, is not an insurmountable obstacle to courts enforcing the rule of law. If courts have the courage, the legal tools are there."

BREAKING: The Trump regime has blatantly defied the court order. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Jeffries: "The average Social Security recipient in the US receives about $65 a day in benefits. Elon Musk in his contracts with the federal government gets about $8 million a day. If they were really interested in waste, fraud, and abuse, they would start there ... but they're going after grandma"

During the Chernobyl disaster, VOA radio was often the only source of genuine news the Soviet population had. www.latimes.com/archives/la-...

Nayib Bukele just said that 238 people he claimed were members of TdA arrived in El Salvador TODAY. This may mean that DHS did NOT adhere to Judge Boasberg's order that planes in the air be turned back. If so, it would be--by far--the biggest act of defiance against a judge's order.

Judge blocks Trump from using 18th-century wartime act for deportations Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport five Venezuelans, but order halted by judge www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The slow civil war hits the gas: Trump invokes the wartime powers of the Alien Enemies Act. The reporting on this so far has been mostly abysmal, mindlessly repeating claim that it’s to target Venezuelan gang—despite WaPo ID of 6 earlier detained as such none of whom were gang members.

BREAKING: Chief Judge Boasberg issues a classwide, nationwide temporary restraining order, blocking removal of any noncitizens in U.S. custody who are subject to today's AEA order for the next 14 days. With planes leaving, he says, "I am required to act immediately."

I can’t get over how much the MAGA people who pretend to love America actually hate everything about it. They hate the people, they hate the freedom of speech and assembly, they hate free elections, they hate the idea of the people governing ourselves. They aren’t patriots.

Xitter has become a non-stop flood of brainless right wingers saying, "how dare this judge uphold the most basic due process in the face of an illegal application of archaic law." I get how Xitter works, but virality of these stupid kneejerk attacks on existence of independent judiciary is scary.

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position. Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."
