"Hell is here, in Boston, in the way a woman’s voice goes unnaturally high as she strangles a shriek when surrounded by six masked people in plainclothes who claim to be police. Hell inhabits the place in your heart where you feel her fear."

A few years ago, Charlotte 1st wrote about serving on the casket team when she was in the Army. It stayed with me. It’s what I think of when any dignified transfers make the news. That Trump chose to watch golf instead of attending yesterday’s transfer is unsurprising but still deeply disgusting.

Oh... my... god...

The amazing thing about the Cory Booker clips we’re seeing is that 20+ hours in — this man is still firmly ON MESSAGE. By this point in most filibusters, people are just rambling or reading Dr. Seuss. youtu.be/0HJuaQL3KRI?...

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble. For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity. What will you do?

Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits

"I don't want a Disney vacation of our history! I don't a whitewashed history, I don't want a homogenized history. Tell me the wretched truth about America, because that speaks to our greatness" -- 20 hours into his speech, Cory Booker is spitting absolute 🔥

courage. begets. courage.

Cory Booker is less than an hour away from breaking the record for holding the senate floor. 23 hours in and he is still relentlessly on message and righteously angry.

Moreover, the one resource we desperately need to defy an authoritarian regime is TIME. And even if we can’t always stop them, we can stall for time. We can force them to drag it out. We can make them burn their precious resources on having to slow down and reset repeatedly. Time is a win.

Cory Booker has now crossed the 14 hour mark in his marathon Senate floor protest. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/inside-...

Team fight vs team cave I want to be on team fight

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker has kicked off what is expected to be a marathon speech on the Senate floor to protest actions taken by President Donald Trump’s administration, saying that he will keep going “as long as I am physically able.”

Here's my message this #TransDayOfVisibility: Our power begins and ends with the solidarity we have with one another.   @housedemocrats.bsky.social stand with our trans neighbors to defend the best of what this country stands for: opportunity and freedom for all.

This is not simply bending the knee - this is saying the threatened punishments are deserved

You can watch this live on CSPAN2

Cory Booker is planning to stay on the senate floor for as long as he can stand. He is planning a marathon speech including a multi part presentation on how President Trump is harming the country. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/inside-...

I’m heading to the Senate floor because Donald Trump and Elon Musk have shown a complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the needs of the American people. You can tune in on CSPAN, YouTube, X, and Facebook.

Wait until the folks complaining about random judicial assignments (that they're absolutely totally positively sure aren't random) hear about single-judge divisions...

He didn’t pass the bar, but he knows a little bit ….

They are just disappearing people off the street. Having a hard time thinking about literally anything else.

everyone needs to understand this

The Trump administration's erasure of federal data has put the Internet Archive in the spotlight. The organization, with its small but mighty team, is working to help save the world's digital history.

Innocent people — undesirables, political dissidents — are being sent to camps here and abroad. A scapegoated minority is being persecuted, made an example of. Wrongthink is being stricken from government institutions and civil society. There is no more "if" authoritarianism arrives. It's here.

Perhaps the Gamers are alright

“Are things worse than they were before Stonewall? Not yet." I spoke with LGBTQ+ elders about what survival looks like under a hostile political regime and their advice for young people right now — which is namely, act even when you're afraid.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

Happy Pi Day!

A morning reminder that if the senator you're trying to reach isn't answering the phone, you can FAX many of them FOR FREE from whatever device you're reading this on. Do you know annoying and attention-getting it is to get faxes? faxzero.com/fax_senate.php

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

AOC: “A tremendous mistake… turns the federal government into a slush fund for Trump & Musk and cedes congressional authority… almost unthinkable why Senate Democrats would vote to to hand the few pieces of leverage that we have away for free…”

Thank you. Now tell Schumer he is sabotaging litigation

AOC: It is almost unthinkable why Senate Democrats would vote to to hand the few pieces of leverage that we have away for free when we've been sent here to protect social security, protect medicaid, and protect medicare.

AOC on senate Dems caving and backing the CR: “A wide sense of betrayal.”

fun fact: voicemail messages are logged just like live calls. so if you’re shy or awkward or whatever, call after hours (5calls.org has all the info you need)

BREAKING: The Supreme Court will consider whether state and local governments can enforce laws banning conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ children.

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is. They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there. They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

"Khalil and his wife – who is eight months pregnant – had just unlocked the door to their building when two plainclothes DHS agents pushed inside behind them. The agents allegedly did not identify themselves at first, instead asking for Khalil’s identity, before then detaining him."

"Not only does a strategy of silence fail to defend our democracy, then, but it may not even protect Harvard. More importantly, when democracy and our freedom are on the line, we must do what is right." Amen to every word of this.
