Last night at at SPUR, we got hope from Hoboken, NJ for getting San Francisco back on track with #VisionZeroSF. Read our 3 takeaways from Mayor Ravi Bhalla at walksf.org/hoboken.

Every possible speed-reduction solution is needed to prevent tragedies & protect our communities. This great piece from Kristi Coale @thefrisc.bsky.social does a deep dive into one of the best solutions out there: speed humps. #slowourstreets #visionzerosf thefrisc.com/sf-speed-cam...

Hoboken, NJ hasn’t had a traffic death in EIGHT YEARS. Hoboken’s Mayor Ravi Bhalla has implemented #VisionZero in a comprehensive, layered way – and it’s working. We learned more about Hoboken’s playbook SPUR tonight. While SF is a lot bigger, Hoboken is more than twice as dense!

We are deeply dismayed that left turn restrictions on Valencia Street are on the chopping block. This would be a huge step backwards for safety. Drivers making left turns are one of the deadliest threats to pedestrians in SF – and this is all too true on Valencia.

We’re headed to City Hall today to speak on behalf of pedestrians at the SFMTA Board meeting. What’s on our list: 1. Support a strong Biking & Rolling Plan. This will make streets safer for EVERYONE. When more people can get around without a car, that means ⬇️traffic – and ⬇️traffic crashes. 🧵

Happening today! Register now at the link below.

Tickets to this year's SF Stair Challenge are coming soon... 👀 Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 3, 2025, for this unique, scenic physical challenge connecting some of San Francisco’s best stairways into one epic route. 🥾

We 💜 to see it: Protected daylighting at Sloat Blvd and 48th! These posts mean there are clear sightlines every moment of the day (and no tickets for drivers). 💗 Love what you see? Take action now at 🔗 walkf.org/daylighting.

Today some Walk SF staff hugged a snowy plover @oceanbeachpark.org to celebrate the fact that the biggest ever pedestrianization project in California is happening in SF! TWO MILES of safe space on the Pacific waterfront. It’s a dream come true!🥰 🥳April 12 is the grand opening. Be there!

Join Walk SF staff at SPUR for a conversation with a hero of ours: the Mayor of Hoboken, Ravi Bhalla. Hoboken, which has a similar density to SF, hasn't had a traffic death in 7+ years. www.spur.org/events/2025-...

The analysis of Slow Streets crash data by Transpo Maps confirms the fact that when drivers go safe speeds, there are dramatically fewer crashes. #SlowOurStreets #SlowStreetsSF #VisionZeroSF @braitsch.bsky.social kqed.org/news/1202844...

We 💜 to see it all along Folsom: New traffic lights that give pedestrians a head-start to cross (reduces ped-vehicle crashes by 60%!) & a countdown so people know if there's enough time to cross.🚦 Thank you, @sfmta.com! These are the solutions that help keep people safe when crossing. 🚸

Walk-star Matt Biggar 🌟 is organizing a team for the Green Fondo NorCal Climate Ride, with funds raised going to Walk SF and @sfbike.org. 🍸 Join us this Wednesday from 6:00 - 9:00PM at Jackalope for a special happy hour to raise funds for 'Team SF'. Learn more at 🔗 walksf.org/happyhour.

It's SO EXCITING to see changes in the Outer Sunset that make streets safer & more efficient for everyone -- and bring SF an important step closer to having an incredible new oceanside park and promenade. www.kqed.org/news/1202819... @oceanbeachpark.org @kqednews.kqed.org

Safety improvements on the Westside are here, and we 💙 to see it! Thank you to our friends @oceanbeachpark.org for leading the charge on this effort.

On Wednesday, we gathered with supporters to celebrate one of the first speed cameras to be installed in California! 🎉 #VisionZeroSF #SlowOurStreets

Speeding is the #1 cause of severe and fatal traffic crashes in SF. We need to #SlowOurStreets to save lives & protect our communities. Thank you @sfmta.com for making SF the first city in CA to get speed cameras on the ground. @sfbike.org #VisionZeroSF

Today we’re celebrating speed cameras – and the news that Mayor Lurie and the @sfmta.com Board appointed Julie Kirschbaum as Director of Transportation at SFMTA. www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/m...

On this #valentinesday, show @sfmta.com leaders you 💖 and demand safe intersections at walksf.org/daylighting. Zoe the zebra 💖s daylighting. We need this painted at every intersection in SF to keep us safe! Help echo this message with your quick email right now!

It is incredibly exciting to see lifesaving speed cameras begin to be installed in San Francisco. It has been a long journey to this moment! The voices of traffic victims & their loved ones have been instrumental in our 6 years of work to pass state legislation allowing speed cameras in SF.

If you love safe intersections…we need you to show it! 💖 We need the SFMTA to bring painted daylighting to every intersection in San Francisco ASAP.

"Daylighting saves lives, it’s that simple," says Walk SF executive director Jodie Medeiros. The new commitment by the SFMTA to paint all intersections for daylighting in 18 months is exactly what’s needed right now given the fact that 2024 was the deadliest year in a decade for traffic crashes.

Walk SF is honored to be a charity beneficiary for this year’s Chinese New Year Treasure Hunt. 🧩 This beloved urban adventure game is the perfect way to explore San Francisco’s Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods on foot. 👟

Photographer Travis Monson has done something incredible. Not only did he walk 1,700 miles of streets and trails in San Francisco, he took 100,000 photos 📸 along the way. Check out our interview with Travis and see more of his amazing photos at walksf.org/travis. 🦜🧡 #totalsf #sanfrancisco #iwalksf

Go to 🔗 walksf.org/daylighting right now to show your support for daylighting. 📢 We need the SFMTA to commit to painting curbs red to daylight every intersection by the end of 2026. By creating clear sightlines at intersections, daylighting reduces crashes by 30%. 💖 🦓 #ILoveSafeIntersections

On March 13, speed cameras will be turned on in San Francisco. It will be a big moment for safer streets – and these will be the first speed cameras in California! www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco...
