People often ask me, what do Danes get for their (relative to UK) high taxes? One is decent local authority provided social care. The other is decent and affordable local authority provided nursery and kindergarten provision.

Agree. The fundamental problem with British politics is, and has been for many years, the failure to make the (very simple) case that if you want better public services, like social care, then taxes Will have to rise in order to pay for Them.
