On the other hand I guess it's just about time to "spring sow" stuff that doesn't need cold stratification, which is kinda wild. Looking at my spreadsheet ... ... ... That's 15 species. Lol; lmao; etc.

I admit I giggled at this. Sorry.

These birds need some WD-40.

Back home after a long trip and it sounds like the grackles and redwing blackbirds are hanging out together in the woods.

Almost enough to convince a person to never take a break and to abhor refreshed productivity.

Those photos are... I feel like I could write a treatise but not a post. You can't make this shit up.

Sure. But possibly they'd be saying something in the press.

I'm a sucker for the big speech and also everything David does. The character probably had too big an impact on me tbh.

We did that, it sort of worked, temporarily. The problem is the house is between occupants so we don't know if, under normal use, it would still be like this. It might just be sitting too long. At this rate I'm just going to flush the tank as you describe before move-in and hope it works.

In this case the cover on the heat pump portion needs to be removed too, and stuff is attached to it (wires, control panel). But again, probably surmountable.

This kind. It does seem just complicated enough to make me nervous about DIY, which suggests it could be doable. Slowly, carefully. Maybe after trying the hot water filter first so I don't run the risk of breaking something.

I have made a grave error by running this idea by potential repair guy #1, who installed the water heater to begin with. I have begun to despair.

We have a filter on the other side already. And the cold water doesn't have the smell.

I swear I wrote about stuff I like with Maypop before, but like so many things that are P incarnata adjacent eventually become, it seems to have been swallowed up. But here, this is it being cute with everything while it good-naturally devours all.

Potential repair guy #2 thinks I should just install a filter on the hot water outlet side. I am skeptical.

So dapper, so expectant.

You know you gotta get some mint family members in there for the deer. They'll have flowers in the summer into fall... maybe combine with some columbine, Packera, and penstemon for spring then asters, goldenrod, and boneset for fall 😍

I bet @passiflora.bsky.social @madelinebright.bsky.social @laurensgardens.bsky.social and others have good ideas. πŸ’š

I couldn't find the GIF I really wanted, which was of David's dad yelling "you knew then! And you did nothing" on Air Force 1. The movie quote most disproportionately etched into my brain specifically.

Yes. Tonko is the rep for where I grew up and I like him. But the moment calls for extraordinary action - make them outlaw you. A lot of people are going to need to do a lot more, and I hope he will be one of them.

So what did Tonko say to that?
