Trump’s whopping great tariffs on the tiny African nation of Lesotho sum up the full madness of the scheme. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

the artist from this story, Rebecca Burke, is working on a comic about her experience and the women she met in ICE custody. her instagram is r.e.burke if you want to follow for updates

Murphy: "The vast majority of Republicans, their number one priority is Trump seizing power, and the Trump family and the MAGA universe holding power forever ... with the exception of maybe 20 Republicans in the Senate, the GOP inside Congress is done with democracy."

I just shared this with my cousin because HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND the Tariffs issue, AT ALL. This breaks it down in a way that he will get. bsky.app/profile/diew...

This isn't just donalds doing. The Republicans in Congress own this. They had the ability to stop him and they didn't. This isn't donalds economy, this is the republican economy.

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

Carney: The system of global trade anchored on the United States.. is over. Our old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the United States is over. The 80 year period when the United States embraced the mantle of economic leadership… is over.

So many interesting performances, many infinitely rewatchable: Tombstone, Heat, Top Gun, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang etc. If you haven’t seen it I also recommend Spartan. www.theguardian.com/film/gallery...

What.

The moment when @corybooker.com displaced segregationist Strom Thurmond for the longest marathon in Senate history. 24 hours, 33 minutes and counting

chef’s kiss

Mmmm hhhmmm. Feel like telling someone off? Feel like everyone needs a good scolding? Try to tamp that down because you never know where it might end up, but please do enjoy some vicarious fire and spice from Representative Crockett. Talk about some free speech. Sing it sistah. Scold on. #resist

Montana's anti-trans bathroom ban is BLOCKED by the courts. The judge finds that the ban was "motivated by animus" and that it showed no evidence that it protects safety and privacy.

Last week I was lamenting the lack of graffiti etc speaking to the moment in NYC. Today on the subway

💥🇭🇺 Police have given up guarding Budapest’s Liberty Bridge as anti-government protesters shut down traffic on four major bridges, rallying against Viktor Orbán’s new law curbing freedom of assembly and banning the Pride march. They vow to escalate with a 24-hour shutdown next week.

"I don't want a Disney vacation of our history! I don't a whitewashed history, I don't want a homogenized history. Tell me the wretched truth about America, because that speaks to our greatness" -- 20 hours into his speech, Cory Booker is spitting absolute 🔥

California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas): "there are currently more kids with measles in Texas than there are transgender athletes in the NCAA. That's the epidemic we should all be worried about."

This is how they start disappearing American citizens they dislike.

Another kickstarter project I'm supporting. More gorgeous images. www.kickstarter.com/projects/gbl...

Bunch shows how it is done. The way he points out what the EO *legally* does (directs the VP, acting as just one of many regents) vs what it claims to do (“change the Smithsonian!”—something POTUS can’t do) is fantastic. We need more of this, less ppl taking EOs as law.

If Trump can disappear green card holders for protesting war, he can disappear you. If he can disappear visa holders for criticizing him, he can disappear you. If he can disappear asylum seekers for tattoos, he can disappear you. We must speak out now — before there is no one left to speak out.

This is terrifying. This could be me. This person was born here, brown, was nearly deported. “Let me be clear: You do not need a passport to live in this country. Millions of Americans have never had one. It's not required for citizenship. It’s not even required to vote.”

Yep

This series of books have been gorgeous. This time it's a collection of photographs from their last nine books, plus a section on pangolins and their conservation. Check it out. www.kickstarter.com/projects/mar...

This is the best use of 2 minutes and 15 seconds of your time today! Please watch it yourself and then share it. 💗

NEW: Ten voting House Republicans have now signed on to a resolution that says Congress "should take all appropriate measures" to make sure USPS remains an independent government agency and "not subject to privatization,” including Reps. Sam Graves and Thomas Kean www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...

Can't help feeling that, at some point in the next few months (or maybe years), Starmer is going to have to make this speech. It's painfully obvious that he wants to be able to avoid doing so - but at all costs? Really?

"This is some of the finest journalism I've read in the Trump era so far," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on @motherjones.com's reporting on the Trump admin deporting people to El Salvador, and in one case, over an autism awareness tattoo.

The GOP leaders of today do not care about helping families in crisis. Gun violence is a public health crisis destroying our communities. We applaud @justinjpearson1.bsky.social for representing American values and our heart breaks for his loss. 👏👏👏

Great thread about various diseases you should be vaccinated for.

“I love poorly uneducated.” — Donald Trump

Today is three months until the election. And thanks to all of you, we are officially DONE fundraising. Please don’t send us money. But we would love your time. zohranfornyc.com/events

When the stakes are this high, incompetence is not an option. Pete Hegseth should resign. Mike Waltz should resign.

I guess the play is just lie and brazen through it with a captive media bubble, as always, but this is just going to extend the story because it’s so obviously horseshit this is inviting everyone to spend days on end digging for more details

The 14th Amendment gives rights to legal due process (and equal protection of the laws) to "any person." Not to any citizen or even any legal resident. When that Amendment wanted to talk about only citizens it did, as in the immediate previous sentence. But here it talks about any person.

Republican ho-humming about the SignalGate scandal tells you that they don't care if our enemies know our military plans and can therefore kill our soldiers. Republicans care only about their own money and power. That's it. Nothing else.

Warner, with Gabbard and Ratcliffe sitting in front of him: "If this was the case of a military officer or an intelligence officer and they had this kind of behavior, they would be fired."

🔑 under-discussed point — why they were on signal:

The thing about the Rule of Law is it applies to everyone or no-one The second thing about the Rule of Law is if you don’t agree with a decision then you appeal it, you most certainly don’t attack the judge for applying it The third thing about the Rule Of Law is without it, you have chaos

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks… “The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government. 🧵

They want to erase the heroic deeds of Black Americans, women, people of color and LGBTQ individuals.

We need more Jon Ossoffs in the Democratic Party. This is just fantastic.

We’re not even slightly exaggerating. In his own words, Sen. Lee: youtu.be/aK_poqtwrZA?...

every college, corporate, and nonprofit president right now

Democrats @gregcasar.bsky.social of Texas, the new chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, gets messaging: keep it simple, factual, but also emotive. Pick a villain. Assign blame. Stand with the little guy.

“.. Canadian tourists make up about 30-40% of the revenue for many businesses in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. .. The owner of the Point of View Inn tells CNN .. he’s had so many cancellations that his business may not survive.” 🇨🇦 @cnn.com www.cnn.com/2025/03/20/t...

When you send innocent people to a foreign gulag, you are not fighting terror. You are practicing it.
