My newest crop of stickers. Like a mood ring, in a way. 😏 Stickers from @theflytrapmedia.bsky.social @blueheronfarm.bsky.social @thewaroncars.bsky.social

Hey, Atlanta! Pride to the Capitol: March Forth! Events Tuesday, March 4th.

The statistics are important, but so is this. People shouldn't be afraid just walking through their neighborhood. This really gets at the core of what congestion pricing is about: starting to reclaim streets for people instead of cars (And yes, crashes not accidents)

Video snippet courtesy of Belfast legend David Holmes on Instagram...

This is literally the street I live on. I can’t stress enough how much of an improvement this has made to my life.

A great graphic by SDOT on how much street space is saved with Moses other than cars. With goals of 0 traffic deaths or injuries just 5 years from the goal, and swapping 60%+ vehicle trips with other modes in just 19 years as a goal, what is the departments plan to redesigning out streets?

Want to tell the public what US government workers actually do, vs. the propaganda spewed by DOGE? This incredible website, "We the Builders," is asking for first-person testimonials from government workers about their actual jobs, and how they make the government work. www.wethebuilders.org

This is a prime example of the arrogance of space of cars in our cities, pushing active transportation into the tightly squeezed margins, leading to bike/pedestrian conflicts. This isn't a bike/ped problem. This is a car problem.

'There are No Accidents' @jessiesinger.bsky.social "accidents are not a regulatory problem, we know the regulations that will reduce the accidental death toll. Rather, accidents are political and social problem." "Regulations are preventative, and when regulation fails, people die."

Idk feels like the president declaring himself King ought to be A1 headline stuff

In today's Politically Georgia newsletter: - Brian Kemp's take on layoffs at the CDC - President Donald Trump’s Fulton County mugshot is displayed near the Oval Office. - State budget could include funds to help relocate Atlanta’s 1996 Olympic cauldron. www.ajc.com/politics/pol...

New York Governor Kathy Hochul responds to Trump and says he is no king and that she’ll see him in court.

Anila's work is always worth reading. www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...

The project is being funded mostly with local money but also a $25M federal grant, which is part of the overall $280M in grants MARTA has warned are at risk of being rescinded by the Trump administration: www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...

I think my head might explode from all of the “flying is too risky now, I’m going to drive instead” takes out there. We absolutely *should* be concerned about the safety of our aviation systems — mass FAA firings are a nightmare — but do you know how unsafe driving is???

Here in #Montreal, we just got 74 cm (30 inches) of snow. This plow driver has the right idea. The municipal snow removal operation should also be a car removal operation!

This isn't news if you've worked at the CDC. They NEVER had enough parking. I knew people who would rather pay for parking across the street at Emory village than park on campus Before I left there was a huge mess when they demoed a parking deck so they could build an even BIGGER parking deck

www.ajc.com/news/busines... Proposed data center in metro Atlanta could require as much electricity as it would take to power 324,000 homes

The indiscriminate mass layoffs at the CDC are not only devastating for the affected GA employees and their families, but also for public health at large. From measles, to e-coli, to ebola, the CDC has kept us safe for a very long time. #cdcheroes #gapol #publichealthmatters #speakup

This is interesting. Double-duty ebike quickly converts from commuter to cargo-hauler. newatlas.com/bicycles/gam...

Just wrapped the “When Driving Is Not an Option” episode of TWOC. As someone who also has a neural ophthalmologic disorder, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more represented. Holding my phone near my face, asking people to read signs, bartering for rides, wow, thank you @thewaroncars.bsky.social

CNBC put together a solid 15-minute explainer on car dependency that's perfect for sending to anyone who's never thought about the role of automobility in their life.

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

The Bluesky app needs better notification controls. It feels kinda all or nothing right now and you can't AFAIK toggle off push notifications for likes and boosts on your posts. #bsky

Power just went out at our house but the worst thing is that now I'm going to have to watch the Man Utd game at a pub full of Spurs people

Adding When Driving is not an Option by @nondriver.bsky.social to the essential reading I recommend around transportation. As a disabled person who cycles for transportation, not a lot was surprising to me in the book. But it’s approachable with data, stories, and specific recommendations. 1/3

This isn't just a petty argument about a body of water. They've taken something that was uncontroversial--the name of a body of water--and turned it into a purity test. Right now they're barring journalists, but eventually they'll be banning books that don't conform.

“Like cigarettes, enormous vehicles can kill those who never used the product…40 years ago, the outrage of secondhand smoke was an eye-opener for many Americans. A similar narrative could help people recognize the havoc that 4-wheeled behemoths now wreak on our streets.”— @davidzipper.bsky.social

new issue of Tracking Atlanta! -Lack of transit options makes Atlanta nightlife difficult for customers and workers -Cop City activists surveilled with cameras outside their homes -Mayor Dickens still supports Beltline Rail -Brookhaven TOD project breaks ground -NextGen Bus Network meetings continue

CDC source: “We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff. They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

Love rolled through the streets tonight as about 100 riders joined in for a Valentine’s bike party. Tandems doubled the fun, familiar faces made it feel like home, and a chat with a pedicab owner added to the good vibes. A short and sweet ride with an appreciative community.

In places where cycling is a viable means of transportation, it is also a viable means of socialization; a collective rather than individualistic pursuit. So if your city vetoes conversational cycling—through the design of its infrastructure or policy—don’t be surprised if it remains a fringe mode.

BREAKING: A bunch of U.S. Digital Service employees (including me) were fired tonight. It's still unclear exactly how many. There is no visibility whatsoever into what determined who was let go. Legacy USDS (i.e., pre-DOGE) leadership was not involved in the decision about whom to let go and […]

The trickle-down effect of canceled funding and so on is starting. I have heard from grad students whose projects, with obvious public health impact, are now basically toast thanks to CDC and other grant program freezes. They might not graduate as a result.

Someone drove their car on the trolley trail in Kirkwood and they were caught on video #fuckcars

Locally, MARTA says $280M is potentially at risk if the Trump administration were to claw back previously awarded grants: www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...

Big progress on the #Atlanta #Beltline. A huge win for #walkability and #bikeability - now let's bring transit into the mix!
