Just borrowed the audiobook from my library and finished listening to it. Wow, amazing book! It takes special skill to write in first person present tense, but in the right hands, the result had an immediacy and urgent vulnerability that is unmatched. Rawlence is masterful here. Highly recommended!

They all seem to be. Guaranteed case of warbler neck after a couple of hours of peering into the treetops.

Merlin is da bomb! Fantastic app. It has even identified lots of flyovers for me.

If not the finest human being alive today, surely among the top 3! Happy birthday, sir!

Shocking that this has to be said.

Yankees game, ball flies into the stands and there wasn’t a proper donnybrook trying to grab it?

More than a great coach, a great human being. Love Pop!

Consider safflower. In my experience, birds love them just as much as sunflower seeds and they at a third of the price.

LA County is the most ecologically diverse place in the country. You have the beach, the sage grass dunes, the chaparral, the montane forests, desert, and snow. You can spend a lifetime here and not be done exploring everything.

I was about to say the same thing. Short bill and eye stripe. Great photo though! 👍🏾

Hmmm, weird. Why did my search say it was 122 miles or something like that? Not sure. Maybe there’s more than one Havre and I picked the wrong one? 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’ve got to check.

Havre MT is more than 100 miles from the border. First thing I checked yesterday when I read about this.

Just finished Tangled Tree. Amazing book, highly recommended. My son is a junior in college studying evolutionary biology and I recommended it to him. The technical details he knows but the description of the various characters in the story is so interesting, it’s worth a read even for the pros.

Wasn’t there a recent movie about this? A man who travels from the northern trip of the Scottish mainland down to Land’s End by bus?

We got a ‘23 Outback Limited a couple of years ago and liked it a lot. So when our 2002 Mazda reached its end of life earlier this year, we picked up the ‘25 Outback Wilderness. So we are a Subaru family now!

Nice! We have its sibling, the Outback Wilderness.

I have a feeling that the RV market is going to have a glut of vehicles soon with retirees jettisoning them due to assaults on SS and decline of retirement accounts. You may be able to find a smaller vehicle that had a bathroom and that you can modify to your taste.

There is nothing better. Lazy summer evenings on the patio, drinking iced tea and listening to baseball on the radio. Doesn’t get any better than that!

The R7 + 100-500L is a magical combo. Since I got the 100-500, my beloved 600/4 has hardly left the house.

They are always watching. I don’t think I remember a single instance when an owl was awake and didn’t have its gaze intently on me.

That’s usually what happens even when you attempt to photograph a bush tit with a DSLR and long lens!

Just like every other policy that this administration proposes, it only hurts Americans more. Every foreign student pays non-resident tuition. Basically, every foreign student makes it possible for schools to pay for and subsidize 2 or 3 in-state students to attend.

On an iPhone, press the volume button and the right side button for 2 seconds. When the shutdown menu comes up, press Cancel. The screen will lock with Face ID disabled and will force you to enter a password to unlock.
