An increase in LBB Gulls at Throckmorton has included birds from Iceland, Norway and the Netherlands however the standout highlight was a bird I ringed on Bardsey this summer!! My first recovery of a Gull I actually ringed and the first Bardsey bird to the West Mids! #worcsbirding

"A Redpoll, a Siskin and a Goldfinch fly on to a bird feeder..." There's a joke there somewhere but I'm damned if I can think of one... @worcswt.bsky.social @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social

Back in 1931 a Buzzard in Birmingham was remarkable enough to make the papers. Fortunately they are much more common today @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social

Another well attend talk at Stafford Branch @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social Thanks to Matthew Capper of @naturetrek.bsky.social for a great presentation on Svalbard👍

A good walk around my local patch this morning. Enjoyed the fact there was some light and blue skies! This heron in a bare tree caught my eye. #birds 🪶 @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social

Foggy morning at @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social Belvide Reservoir. Missed the Smew but caught up with the Green-Winged Teal. Plenty of Goldeneye about as well as a Peregrine which sat on a post preening for a long time. Met Stuart from Stoke who was on his first visit to the reserve.

📢 Save the date!!! 📆 Saturday 26th April 2025 ✨️ We are busy in the background working on something exciting... 👀 Keep an eye on our social media accounts for more details, which will be announced soon!!

Stafford Branch of WMBC open invitation to their pre Christmas talk Tuesday 10th December. As well as a great evening plenty of mince pies and chocolate biscuits await. See you there 👍@westmidbirdclub.bsky.social

⚠️ We have received a report from a quarry in the region that some birders are straying off the public footpaths into dangerous operational areas. For your own safety, and to avoid losing access for birders, please only observe birds from the designated public footpaths.

This afternoon, I found a pair of Bearded Tits from the Scott hide. The first record at Belvide for 39 years. A massive Rez tick for me. They were generally elusive but I did manage to get a few shots of the male. #UKBirding

Last nights talk by Ashley Grove was a great success at Stafford branch @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social thanks to everyone who came.

The next WMBC Stafford Branch lecture is on Tuesday! Come and hear Ashley Grove's talk 'Shetland to Scilly - Birds of the British Isles'. 7.30pm start, £3 admission, everyone welcome! 😀

Summer may be over now as autumn takes hold, but we love this stunning photo of a juvenile Cuckoo, taken just last month by Richard Styles at WMBC's Blithfield reserve 🤩 Juvenile Cuckoos are often seen later in the summer compared to adults before commencing their migration.

Have you visited our Teemill store recently? We now have ✨NEW✨ 1/4 zip sweatshirts available with the WMBC logo on, in 3 different colours! 👇 Visit the Teemill store here: westmidlandbirdclub.teemill.com

A few shots of today's 3 Scaup including 2 adult drake and an adult female at the west end. The Lesser Scaup remains off the dam. #ukbirding

The juvenile Black-necked Grebe continues to show well along the Gazebo bay. A shot of it coughing up a pellet. Also worth mentioning the 395 Shoveler present today. A personal best for me, though falling short of the 570 on November 1st 1981.

Hello Bluesky! We will be managing our presence here with WMBC to ensure a consistent approach across the Club's reserves. This currently includes retaining the Ladywalk account on X. To get us going, here is some blue sky over the main pool, from Riverwalk Hide. #UKBirding #LadywalkNR #warksbirds
