“The accumulation of all powers legislative, executive and judiciary in the same hands, whether of one, a few or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” ~ From the Federalist No. 47, “Publius”/James Madison

Great listen and soothing in itself

Happy Imbolc/Happy Brigid's Day!

I love symbolism and am fascinated by how it can evolve. The Girl I Left Behind Me, by Eastman Johnson, dates to ca. 1872. As heartbreaking as it is, I think it can also mean a lot at this very moment as we see the "winds" challenge women again. Do you not see it, too?

Granted, my 7th great grandfather (in Königsberg) and the Dorset 3739 last shared an ancestor ca 1050 BCE, Dorset 3739 was one of the 54 Vikings decapitated by Anglo-Saxons at Ridgeway Hill, Dorset, England, likely as part of the St. Brice's Day massacre, in Nov. 1002 CE/AD. Fascinating.

This ancient barrow stands, veiled in winter’s breath, its quiet presence a reminder of those who walked these paths long before us. Places like this remind us how connected we are to the land and its stories.

Keep your eyes open for bullshit. Real heathens don't play that.

I'm fascinated with finding examples of the different branches of the Brythonic languages, so this is a treat from Brittany, France. As in most areas where Brythonic survived, sadly, it continues to fade from regular use.

I've come across a couple of these in Ireland...

While this really isn't news, it's clearly pushback against current thinking in a certain political circle.

Under two weeks to go...

Thinking back to my visit to a hill fort in Cheshire in 2023. Looking forward to visiting some Celt hill forts in Germany this summer. "Pilgrimages"? Sort of. My journeys so far have taken me to Celt sites in Ireland, Scotland, England, and Spain. So much more to see.

Tracking back to older stuff just feels comfortable these days. Image shows Ogham (read from bottom to top) for "Pretani"... courtesy of Ogham Art.
