Have I given up the battle, only time will tell? For now, you'll find me in the orchard, out cycling or mooching around in my camper.

Emptied the old garage / brewing shed of 30 years of accumulated detritus into hastily erected temporary army tent prior to anticipated erection of replacement at the end of the month. Will spend most of today attempting to secure said tent to planet earth in anticipation of tomorrow's hooley.

I'm not sure if I've read this correctly, but I'm sure it'll be quite a party 🎉.

If anyone wants proof that vegetables are good for you, this is it. Avara foods pay their employees by pumping their chicken shit into the River Wye and it's catchment, killing the river and destroying a once healthy tourist industry.

The sad part for me was that I'd become concerned about Letbys conviction a long time ago after reading threads on Twitter and then X. A reminder that Twitter / X was a useful tool before it fell into disrepair.

The book I spent many a happy hour quoting to a fishing pal. 'Dam, he's smashed me gut' was a regular refrain during our largely unsuccessful fishing trips. My pal, in the style of Mr Crabtree, 'I'll use this beautiful Hardy split cane thing of beauty Peter, you can use this beaten up old stick".

Has she an identical twin living in rural Herefordshire?

I think she means a real job as in 'making shit loads of money to the detriment of the employees or the general public'.

Signs of spring indeed and there's little chance of missing them having bulldozed my garden more vigorously than in my living memory. The mole traps will stay in the shed, but please, even I have my limits.

Hi Daniel, being an avid wine drinker and avid Brexit hater, I followed you assiduously on Twitter / X. I bailed from that hellhole some time ago so it's good to meet up with you again.

Ebikes are a sensible alternative method of travel given the right infrastructure that doesn't just pander to the will of the car industry and car drivers. Sadly cycling to our nearest town, 6 miles, would mean literally taking your life in your hands.

We thought they'd be much better, more powerful, longer range etc. They are, but they are compromised in that a conventional bike is light and manoeuvrable, with appropriate steering rakeetc Bikes have evolved slowly over many years, but cheap ebikes have nothing in common with them.

Correct, and this is my wife's Carlton Courette, similarly equipped with a Swytch kit. Our friends call them our 'cheeter bikes'. Somewhat sadly I sold the Swytch kits and bought two conventional ebikes, but the Carlton and Raleigh, returned to original spec.still take pride of place.

Would you mind asking them to stop killing our rivers then?

Already done, but thanks for the reminder. In my defence, that's my brother!

My wife was given a pair by her mother who's 94 and is still out in the garden most days. They had a broken spring so I purchased a pack of two for her for Christmas! That should see her through the next sixty years in the event of further premature failures!
