Did Cheeto Jesus already pass a nationwide ban on mask requirements, or am I just assuming that's in the pipeline?

Buying loyalty, plain and simple. The other guys followed orders by the chain of command, and that doesn't always go in the dictator's favor. The rebels he "personally" paid, on the other hand...

Pretty sure that deciding you don't like someone anymore based on their actions and associations is a very obvious example of "thinking for yourself" there, Benjamin.

What a weird timeline to live in where the best-case scenario is the incoming Presidential administration are a bunch of feckless idiots who can't accomplish anything.

We are closer to that tipping point than we've likely ever been and Dem leadership is playing with fire if they think people won't realize that, politically, they don't really have anything left to lose at this point. They already lost to Trump twice. How does it get worse if the Left goes rogue?

That's the truly ridiculous thing about this: more liberal urban areas will barely notice the change (since the major shipping carriers are all over those areas already), but the more conservative rural areas will see prices spike due to the extra time/fuel/mileage spent getting there.

Pretty sure I saw that thing on episode 1 of The Walking Dead.

If they stop the firehose of anger and fear even for a second, their audience loses interest and might start looking at what is actually going on.

It feels equivalent to him declaring that he's going to lower consumer prices with his magical powers and half the country saying "awesome, that sounds so easy", voting for him, watching him win, and THEN deciding to ask if he actually has magical powers.

Who could have possibly seen this coming? Personally I love shooting myself in the foot while preemptively begging for a bandaid.

Now imagine how bad things will get if and when they repeal the ACA, along with sidelining the CDC in every way possible. There will 100% be another pandemic and it will ravage, in particular, poor areas in red states.

Yeah, there's no 4D chess here. He wanted Gaetz because Gaetz is an attack dog who's loyalty can be guaranteed with the threat of the investigation results coming out. He settled for Bondi because she's already crossed lines for him in the past. Trump wants people he can control.

I firmly believe that someone close to Phil Collins gave him a hard time about selling out to Disney, and he took that shit personally.

Because, a couple sips in, you realize that you did not need, or even particularly want, this coffee, and are basically just chasing the hyperactive dragon at this point.

I mean, they also seem to think tariffs are going to make groceries cheaper, so at some point we have to accept that they're just living in a fantasy world where everything works out the way they want it to.

I don't know, man. I hope you're right, but I think most of them are as transactionally-minded as Trump, and will happily sit on scandalous info as long as they can wring personal benefit out of it.

It's really alarming how comfortable they've become with blatantly inventing their own reality on the fly. Like, this isn't some historical event where the details have been lost. It started two years ago and is currently in progress, and has been exhaustively reported the entire time.

I would bet a substantial amount of money a congressional Republican with significant pull told him that they'd keep his investigation results under wraps, but only if he turned down the AG offer.

The depths of the bubble some of them live in is astonishing. Trump has been one of the most shameless "yes-man" employers in existence, and they're still somehow shocked by it.
