Today, on the birthday of W.E.B. Du Bois,I consider the racism he endured as a grad student at Harvard.When he graduated in 1895 (the 1st Black person to earn a PhD from Harvard) he was asked about this achievement.He responded, "The honor, I assure you, was Harvard's" Remember:YOU are the prize!

Canada's Parliamentary Budget Office has just issued a new report estimating that a basic income guarantee of $22k (75% of their low income measure) would cut poverty by 40% with a cost of just $3.6 billion after replacement of existing federal and provincial tax credits, based on 1.1% less jobbing.

Illinois spends $1.4 billion a year at an average cost of $150,000 per person incarcerated. If universal basic income were implemented this spending in states would plummet. Crime would drop. Recidivism would drop. This savings should always be considered when asking about the costs of a UBI policy.
